ADP5023CP-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADP5023 combines two high performance buck regulators and one low dropout (LDO) regulator in a small, 24-lead 4 mm ? 4 mm LFCSP to meet demanding performance and board space requirements. The high switching frequency of the buck regulators enables tiny multilayer external components and minimizes the board space. When the MODE pin is set high, the buck regulators operate in forced PWM mode. When the MODE pin is set low, the buck regulators operate in PWM mode when the load current is?above a predefined threshold. When the load current falls below a predefined threshold, the regulator operates in power save mode (PSM) improving the light-load efficiency. The two bucks operate out of phase to reduce the input capacitor requirement. The low quiescent current, low dropout voltage, and wide input voltage range of the ADP5023 LDO extends the battery life of portable devices. The ADP5023 LDO maintains power supply rejection greater than 60 dB for frequencies as high as 10 kHz while operating with a low headroom voltage.Regulators in the ADP5023 are activated though dedicated enable pins. The default output voltages can be externally set in the adjustable version or factory programmable to a wide range of preset values in the fixed voltage version.Applications Power for processors, ASIC, FPGAs, and RF chipsets Portable instrumentation and medical devices Space constrained devices

EVAL-AD7124-4ASDZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7124-4 is a low power, low noise, completely integrated analog front end for high precision measurement applications. The device contains a low noise, 24-bit ?-? analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and can be configured to have 4 differential inputs or 7 single-ended or pseudo differential inputs. The onchip low gain stage ensures that signals of small amplitude can be interfaced directly to the ADC.One of the major advantages of the AD7124-4 is that it gives the user the flexibility to employ one of three integrated power modes. The current consumption, range of output data rates, and rms noise can be tailored with the power mode selected. The device also offers a multitude of filter options, ensuring that the user has the highest degree of flexibility. The AD7124-4 can achieve simultaneous 50 Hz and 60 Hz rejection when operating at an output data rate of 25 SPS (single cycle settling), with rejection in excess of 80 dB achieved at lower output data rates. The AD7124-4 establishes the highest degree of signal chain integration. The device contains a precision, low noise, low drift internal band gap reference, and also accepts an external differential reference, which can be internally buffered. Other key integrated features include programmable low drift excitation current sources, burnout currents, and a bias voltage generator, which sets the common-mode voltage of a channel to AVDD/2. The low-side power switch enables the user to power down bridge sensors between conversions, ensuring the absolute minimal power consumption of the system. The device also allows the user the option of operating with either an internal clock or an external clock. The integrated channel sequencer allows several channels to be enabled simultaneously, and the AD7124-4 sequentially converts on each enabled channel, simplifying communication with the device. As many as 16 channels can be enabled at any time; a channel being defined as an analog input or a diagnostic such as a power supply check or a reference check. This unique feature allows diagnostics to be interleaved with conversions. The AD7124-4 also supports per channel configuration. The device allows eight configurations or setups. Each configuration consists of gain, filter type, output data rate, buffering, and reference source. The user can assign any of these setups on a channel by channel basis. The AD7124-4 also has extensive diagnostic functionality integrated as part of its comprehensive feature set. These diagnostics include a cyclic redundancy check (CRC), signal chain checks, and serial interface checks, which lead to a morerobust solution. These diagnostics reduce the need for external components to implement diagnostics, resulting in reduced board space needs, reduced design cycle times, and cost savings. The failure modes effects and diagnostic analysis (FMEDA) of a typical application has shown a safe failure fraction (SFF) greater than 90% according to IEC 61508.The device operates with a single analog power supply from 2.7 V to 3.6 V or a dual 1.8 V power supply. The digital supply has a range of 1.65 V to 3.6 V. It is specified for a temperature range of ?40?C to +105?C. The AD7124-4 is housed in a 32-lead LFCSP package or a 24-lead TSSOP package.Applications Temperature measurement? Pressure measurement? Industrial process control? LT8636 Demo Board | 42V, 5A Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher with 2.5μA Quiescent Current
Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit 2918A is a 42V, 5A synchronous step-down SILENT SWITCHER with spread spectrum frequency modulation featuring the LT8636. The demo board is designed for 5V output from a 5.8V to 42V input. The wide input range allows a variety of input sources, such as automotive batteries and industrial supplies. The LT8636 is a compact, low emission, high efficiency, and high frequency synchronous monolithic step-down switching regulator. The proprietary silent switcher architecture minimizes electromagnetic emissions with simplified filter and reduced layout sensitivity. Selectable spread spectrum mode further improves EMI performance, making it perfect solution to the noise sensitive applications. The regulator’s ultralow 2.5μA quiescent current with the output in full regulation enables applications requiring highest efficiency at very light load currents, such as automotive and battery powered portable instruments.
Peak current mode control with minimum on-time of as small as 30ns allows high step-down conversion even at high frequency. The LT8636 switching frequency can be programmed either via oscillator resistor or external clock over a 200kHz to 3MHz range. The default frequency of demo circuit 2918A is 2MHz.
The SYNC/MODE pin on the demo board 2918A is grounded (JP1 at BURST position) by default for low ripple Burst Mode® operation. To synchronize to an external clock, move the Jump JP1 to SYNC/FCM and apply the external clock to the SYNC terminal on the 2918A. In sync mode, the part runs in forced continuous mode. Without external clock applied, the SYNC/MODE pin is floating, and the part runs in forced continuous mode. This mode offers fast transient response and full frequency operation over a wide load range. Alternatively, move the Jump JP1 to the SPREAD-SPECTRUM, and the SYNC/MODE is tied to INTVCC, the part runs in forced continuous mode with spread spectrum function enabled.
To get accurate efficiency measurement, measure the input voltage at the VIN_SENSE and GND terminals, which are Kelvin connected to the input cap C2 through signal traces.
The LT8636 is assembled in a 4mmx3mm LQFN package with exposed pads for low thermal resistance. The rated maximum load current is 5A, while derating is necessary for certain input voltage and thermal conditions.
The demo board has an EMI filter installed. The red line in Radiated EMI Performance is CISPR25 Class 5 peak limit. The circuit passes the test with a wide margin. To achieve EMI/EMC performance, the input EMI filter is required and the input voltage should be applied at VEMI terminal, and the setup can be referred to the CISPR 25 standards.
The LT8636 datasheet gives a complete description of the part, operation and application information. The datasheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual for demo circuit 2918A. The layout recommendations for low EMI operation and best thermal performance are available in the datasheet section Low EMI PCB Layout and Thermal Considerations and Peak Output Current.
