3.3V VIN, Dual 2A, 6MHz Synchronous Step-Down Regulators at 1.8V and 2.0V Outputs, in a 0.71cm2 Solution

Demonstration Circuit DC2748A features the LTC3315B dual 5V, 2A Synchronous Step-Down DC/DC regulators operating at 6MHz. One regulator provides a 1.8V output and the other provides 2.0V, both up to a 2A load. The LTC3315B supports adjustable output voltages from 0.5V to VIN, operating frequencies from 3MHz up to 10MHz. The LTC3315B is a compact, high efficiency, and high speed synchronous monolithic step-down switching regulator. Fast minimum on-time of 25ns enables high VIN to low VOUT conversion at high frequency. The DC2748A operating mode may be selected as Burst Mode operation, Skip mode or Forced Continuous (FC) mode. Setting JP1 to the FC/SYNC position will allow the LTC3315B to sync to a clock frequency from 3MHz to 10MHz. The LTC3315B operates in Forced Continuous mode when syncing to an external clock. The LTC3315B data sheet gives a complete description of the device, operation and application information. The data sheet must be read in conjunction with the demo manual. The LTC3315B is assembled in a 2mm × 2mm LQFN package with exposed pads for low thermal resistance. The PCB Considerations section in the data sheet. The Efficiency vs Load graph on the demo manual shows the efficiency and the power loss of the circuit with a 3.3V input in Burst Mode operation.

Electrical Evaluation for LTC6560 Single Channel Transimpedance Amplifier with Output Multiplexing

Demonstration circuit 2807A features the LTC6560 single channel transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with output multiplexing. The DC2807A accepts voltage pulses and converts them to current for the TIA. The LTC6560, which features 74kΩ transimpedance gain and 30µA linear input current range, is ideal for LIDAR receivers using avalanche photodiodes (APD). The LTC6560 operates from 5V single supply and consumes only 90mW. Utilizing the LTC6560’s output MUX, multiple LTC6560 devices can combine into a single output. The LTC6560’s fast overload recovery makes it well suited for LIDAR receivers. The LTC6560’s single-ended output can swing 2VP-P into a 100Ω load. The LTC6560 is packaged in a compact 3mm × 3mm 16-pin leadless QFN package with an exposed pad for thermal management and low inductance.

The AD5760 is a true 16-bit, unbuffered voltage out DAC that operates from a bipolar supply up to 33V. The AD5760 accepts a positive reference input in the range of 5V to VDD ? 2.5V and a negative reference input in the range of VSS + 2.5v to 0V. The AD5760 offers relative accuracy of +/-0.5 LSB max and operation is guaranteed monotonic with a ?0.5 LSB DNL max range specification.The part uses a versatile 3-wire serial interface that operates at clock rates of up to 35 MHz and is compatible with standard SPI, QSPI?, MICROWIRE?, and DSP interface standards. The part incorporates a power-on reset circuit that ensures the DAC output powers up to 0V in a known output impedance state and remains in this state until a valid write to the device takes place. The ADP2114 is a highly versatile, synchronous step-down, switching regulator that can be configured to satisfy a wide range of customer point of load requirements. The two PWM channels can be configured to deliver independent outputs at 2 A and 2 A (or 3 A/1 A) or can be configured as a single interleaved output capable of delivering 4 A. The two PWM channels are 180? phase shifted to reduce input ripple current and reduce input capacitance.The ADP2114 provides high efficiency performance at full loads, enabling high switching frequencies at up to 1.2 MHz. At light loads, the ADP2114 can be set to operate in pulse skip mode for higher efficiency or in forced PWM mode to reduce EMI.The device is designed with an optimized gate slew rate to reduce ENI emissions, allowing the device to supply sensitive, high performance signal chain applications. The frequency can be set to 300 kHz, 600 kHz and 1.2 MHz and can be synchronized to an external clock signal, minimizing the system noise between converters. The bidirectional synchronization pin is also configurable as a 90? out-of-phase output clock, providing the possibility for a stackable multiphase power solution.The ADP2114 input voltage range is from 2.75 V to 5.5 V, and it converts to fixed outputs of 0.8 V, 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, or 3.3 V that can be set independently for each channel using external resistors. Using a resistor divider, it is also possible to set the output voltage as low as 0.6 V. The ADRV9029 is a highly integrated, radio frequency (RF) agile transceiver offering four independently controlled transmitters, dedicated observation receiver inputs for monitoring each transmitter channel, four independently controlled receivers, integrated synthesizers, and digital signal processing functions providing a complete transceiver solution. The device provides the performance demanded by cellular infrastructure applications, such as small cell base station radios, macro 3G/4G/5G systems, and massive multiple in/multiple out (MIMO) base stations.The receiver subsystem consists of four independent, wide bandwidth, direct conversion receivers with wide dynamic range. The four independent transmitters use a direct conversion modulator resulting in low noise operation with low power consumption. The device also includes two wide bandwidth, time shared, observation path receivers with two inputs each for monitoring transmitter outputs.The complete transceiver subsystem includes automatic and manual attenuation control, dc offset correction, quadrature error correction (QEC), and digital filtering, eliminating the need for these functions in the digital baseband. Other auxiliary functions such as analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and general-purpose input/ outputs (GPIOs) that provide an array of digital control options are also integrated.To achieve a high level of RF performance, the transceiver includes five fully integrated phase-locked loops (PLLs). Two PLLs provide low noise and low power fractional-N RF synthesis for the transmitter and receiver signal paths. A third fully integrated PLL supports an independent local oscillator (LO) mode for the observation receiver. The fourth PLL generates the clocks needed for the converters and digital circuits, and a fifth PLL provides the clock for the serial data interface.A multichip synchronization mechanism synchronizes the phase of all LOs and baseband clocks between multiple ADRV9029 chips. All voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) and loop filter components are integrated and adjustable through the digital control interface.This device contains a fully integrated, low power digital predistortion (DPD) adaptation engine for use in power amplifier linearization. DPD enables use of high efficiency power amplifiers, reducing the power consumption of base station radios while also reducing the number of SERDES lanes necessary to interface with baseband processors.The low power crest factor reduction (CFR) engine of the ADRV9029 reduces the peak to average ratio (PAR) of the input signal, enabling higher efficiency transmit line ups while reducing the processing load on baseband processors.The serial data interface consists of four serializer lanes and four deserializer lanes. The interface supports both the JESD204B and JESD204C standards, operating at data rates up to 24.33 Gbps. The interface also supports interleaved mode for lower bandwidths, thus reducing the number of high speed data interface lanes to one. Both fixed and floating-point data formats are supported. The floating-point format allows internal automatic gain control (AGC) to be invisible to the demodulator device.The ADRV9029 is powered directly from 1.0 V, 1.3 V, and 1.8 V regulators and is controlled via a standard serial peripheral interface (SPI) serial port. Comprehensive power-down modes are included to minimize power consumption in normal use.
