The LT8709 is a synchronous PWM controller for negative-to-negative or negative-to-positive DC/DC conversion, with rail-to-rail output current monitor and control. The LT8709 is ideal for many local power supply designs. It can be easily configured in buck, boost, buck-boost, and inverting topologies with negative input voltages.In addition, the LT8709?s rail-to-rail output current sense allows the part to be configured in current limited applications such as battery or capacitor charging. The PG pin is used for power good indication.The LT8709?s switching frequency range can be set between 100kHz and 750kHz. The part may be clocked internally at a frequency set by the resistor from the RT pin to the ?VIN pin, or it may be synchronized to an external clock.The LT8709 also features innovative EN/FBIN pin circuitry that allows for slowly varying input signals and an adjustable undervoltage lockout function. The pin is also used as input voltage regulation to avoid collapsing a high impedance input supply. Additional features such as frequency foldback, thermal shutdown and soft-start are integrated. The LT4363 surge stopper protects loads from high voltage transients. It regulates the output during an overvoltage event, such as load dump in vehicles, by controlling the gate of an external N-channel MOSFET. The output is limited to a safe value allowing the loads to continue functioning. The LT4363 also monitors the voltage drop between the SNS and OUT pins to protect against overcurrent faults. An internal amplifier limits the voltage across the current sense resistor to 50mV. In either fault condition, a timer is started inversely proportional to MOSFET stress. Before the timer expires, the FLT pin pulls low to warn of an impending power down. If the condition persists, the MOSFET is turned off. The LT4363-1 remains off until reset whereas the LT4363-2 restarts after a cool down period.Two precision comparators can monitor the input supply for overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) conditions. When the potential is below the UV threshold, the external MOSFET is kept off. If the input supply voltage is above the OV threshold, the MOSFET is not allowed to turn back on. Back-to-back MOSFETs can be used in lieu of a Schottky diode for reverse input protection, reducing voltage drop and power loss. The LTC3331 integrates a high voltage energy harvesting power supply plus a buck-boost DC/DC powered from a rechargeable battery to create a single output supply for alternative energy applications. A 10mA shunt allows simple charging of the battery with harvested energy while a low battery disconnect function protects the battery from deep discharge. The energy harvesting power supply, consisting of an integrated full-wave bridge rectifier and a high voltage buck DC/DC, harvests energy from piezoelectric, solar, or magnetic sources. Either DC/DC converter can deliver energy to a single output. The buck operates when harvested energy is available, reducing the quiescent current draw on the battery to the 200nA required by the shunt charger, thereby extending the life of the battery. The buck-boost powers VOUT only when harvested energy is unavailable.A supercapacitor balancer is also integrated, allowing for increased output storage. Voltage and current settings for both inputs and outputs are programmable via pin-strapped logic inputs. Demonstration circuit 2157A features the LTM4630EY-1, the high efficiency, high density, dual 18A, switch mode step-down power module regulator with ±0.8% total DC output accuracy. The input voltage is from 4.5V to 15V. The output voltage is programmable from 0.6V to 1.8V. DC2157A can deliver up to 18A maximum in each channel. With the help of external compensation, ±3% transient accuracy can be achieved with 25% load step. As explained in the data sheet, output current derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, and thermal conditions. The board operates in continuous conduction mode in heavy load conditions. For high efficiency at low load currents, the MODE jumper (JP1) selects pulse-skipping mode for noise sensitive applications or Burst Mode® operation in less noise sensitive applications. Two outputs can be connected in parallel for a single 36A output solution with optional jumper resistors.

There are turrets provided to monitor input voltage, output voltage, output status, quiescent current, several ground connections, timer pin, and control the ON pin. Input, output and return voltages are provided on banana jacks.

Demonstration circuit of DC2194A features the LTM4642IY, the wide input voltage, high efficiency and power density, dual 4A or single 8A DC/DC step-down μModule regulator. The step-down regulator operates from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V (or 2.5V min. with 5V external bias voltage at CPWR) and provides an adjustable output voltage range from 0.6V to 5V at 4A load current per channel. The part is capable of operating in dual phase single output, delivers up to 8A load current with interleaved two phases at 180 degrees. Differential output voltage sensing is available on Channel 1 for applications requiring more accurate output load regulation. A user-selectable mode input is provided to allow users to trade off ripple noise for light load efficiency: Discontinuous Mode (DCM) of operation delivers higher efficiency at light load while Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) is preferred for noise sensitive applications.
