The AD8337 is a low noise, single-ended, linear-in-dB, general-purpose variable gain amplifier (VGA) usable at frequencies from dc to 100 MHz; the ?3 dB bandwidth is 280 MHz. Excellent bandwidth uniformity across the entire gain range and low output-referred noise makes the AD8337 ideal for gain trim applications and for driving high speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).Excellent dc characteristics combined with high speed make the AD8337 particularly suited for industrial ultrasound, PET scanners, and video applications. Dual-supply operation enables gain control of negative-going pulses such as generated by photodiodes or photomultiplier tubes.The AD8337 uses the popular and versatile X-AMP? architecture, exclusively from Analog Devices, Inc., with a gain range of 24 dB. The gain control interface provides precise linear-in-dB scaling of 19.7 dB/V, referenced to VCOM.The AD8337 includes an uncommitted operational current-feedback preamplifier (PrA) that operates in inverting or noninverting configurations. Using external resistors, the device can be configured for gains of 6 dB or greater. The AD8337 is characterized by a noninverting PrA gain of 2? using two external 100 ? resistors. The attenuator has a range of 24 dB, and the output amplifier has a fixed gain of 8? (18.06 dB). The lowest nominal gain range is 0 dB to 24 dB and can be shifted up or down by adjusting the preamp gain. The AD8318 is a demodulating logarithmic amplifier, capable of accurately converting an RF input signal to a corresponding decibel-scaled output voltage. It employs the progressive compression technique over a cascaded amplifier chain, each stage of which is equipped with a detector cell. The device is used in measurement or controller mode. The AD8318 maintains accurate log conformance for signals of 1 MHz to 6 GHz and provides useful operation to 8 GHz. The input range is typically 60 dB (re: 50 ?) with error less than ?1 dB. The AD8318 has a 10 ns response time that enables RF burst detection to beyond 45 MHz. The device provides unprecedented logarithmic intercept stability vs. ambient temperature conditions. A 2 mV/?C slope temperature sensor output is also provided for additional system monitoring. A single supply of 5 V is required. Current consumption is typically 68 mA. Power consumption decreases to <1.5 mW when the device is disabled.?The AD8318 can be configured to provide a control voltage to a VGA, such as a power amplifier or a measurement output, from Pin VOUT. Because the output can be used for controller applications, wideband noise is minimal.In this mode, the setpoint control voltage is applied to VSET. The feedback loop through an RF amplifier is closed via VOUT, the output of which regulates the amplifier output to a magnitude corresponding to VSET. The AD8318 provides 0 V to 4.9 V output capability at the VOUT pin, suitable for controller applications. As a measurement device, Pin VOUT is externally connected to VSET to produce an output voltage, VOUT, which is a decreasing linear-in-dB function of the RF input signal amplitude.The logarithmic slope is nominally ?25 mV/dB but can be adjusted by scaling the feedback voltage from VOUT to the VSET interface. The intercept is 20 dBm (re: 50 ?, CW input) using the INHI input. The AD8338 is a variable gain amplifier (VGA) for applicationsthat require a fully differential signal path, low power, low noise,and a well-defined gain over frequency. Although the inputs aredifferential, the device can also be driven with a single-endedsource if required.The basic gain function is linear-in-dB and is controlled by thevoltage applied to Pin GAIN. The nominal gain range spansfrom 0 dB to 80 dB for control voltages between 0.1 V to 1.1 Vwith a slope of 12.5 mV/dB. The nominal gain range can beshifted up or down via direct access to Pin INPD and Pin INMD,the current inputs of the VGA. For example, driving the INPDand INMD pins with 50 ? resistors shifts the gain range up by20 dB, that is, 20 dB to 100 dB, and lowers the input referrednoise of the device to 1.5 nV/?Hz. Additionally, the gain slopecan be inverted via logic Pin MODE.The AD8338 includes additional circuit blocks to enable inputoffset correction and automatic gain control (AGC). DC offsetvoltages are removed by the offset correction circuit, whichbehaves like a high-pass filter whose corner is set with an externalcapacitor. The AGC function varies the gain of the AD8338 tomaintain a constant rms output voltage. An externally appliedvoltage to Pin VAGC with respect to the voltage at Pin VREFsets the output rms amplitude. A capacitor from Pin DETO toground sets the response time of the AGC circuit.The AD8338 offers additional versatility by providing access tothe internal summing nodes of the VGA core and the outputamplifiers. With the addition of a few external passive components,users can customize the gain, bandwidth, input impedance, andnoise profile of the device to fit their application.The AD8338 uses a single-supply voltage of 3.0 V to 5.0 V andis very power efficient, consuming as little as 3 mA quiescentcurrent at mid gain. The ADMV4530 is a highly integrated upconverter with an in-phase/quadrature (I/Q) mixer that is ideally suited for next generation Ka band satellite communications.An integrated low phase noise, fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) with a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and internal 2? multiplier generate the necessary on-chip local oscillator (LO) signal for the I/Q mixer, eliminating the need for external frequency synthesis. The VCO uses an internal autocalibration routine that allows the PLL to select the necessary settings and locks in approximately 100 ?s.The single-ended reference input to the PLL operates up to 500 MHz and features internal reference dividers and a multiplier for added flexibility. Additionally, the phase frequency detector (PFD) comparison frequency can be up to 250 MHz for integer mode and 160 MHz for fraction-N mode.The upconverter consists of an I/Q mixer that can operate in either I/Q mode with 500 MHz of bandwidth or in IF mode up to 3 GHz of bandwidth, which allows various radio architectures and backward compatibility with legacy systems.Immediately following the I/Q mixer are stages of gain and variable attenuation. The configuration can achieve a minimum 1 dB compression point (P1dB) compression point of 19 dBm, eliminating the need for external stages of gain.A programmable 4-wire serial port interface (SPI) allows adjustment of the quadrature phase for optimum sideband suppression. In addition, the SPI allows nulling of LO feedthrough in IF mode. In I/Q mode, the LO feedthrough can be nulled by applying external dc offset to the differential baseband I/Q inputs.An IF automatic gain control (AGC) adjusts the IF variable gain amplifier (VGA) to compensate for input power variations. During normal operation, this AGC feature can be enabled or disabled via the SPI. 36V 2A Boost LED Driver with 25,000:1 PWM Dimming

Demonstration circuit DC2857A is a 36V 2A synchronous
2MHz boost LED driver featuring the LT3922-1. It drives
a single string of LEDs at 330mA up to 34V when VIN is
between 7V and 28V. It runs down to 4VIN with reduced
ILED and can withstand VIN as high as 36V, but has overvoltage
lockout (OVLO) set for 28V for this application.
DC2857A runs at 2MHz switching frequency. Spread
spectrum frequency modulation (SSFM) can be turned
on with a simple jumper, reducing EMI. DC2857A comes
with low EMI features including optimized layout, SSFM
and input EMI filter. It passes CISPR 25 class 5 conducted
and radiated EMI. It is protected against both open and
short LED conditions and reports the faults.
The LT3922-1 has an input voltage range from 2.8V to
36V. Its internal synchronous 2A 40V switches allow up
to 34V of LEDs on the output with room for over voltage
protection and overshoot during an open LED event. It
has adjustable switching frequency between 200kHz and
2.5MHz. It can be synchronized to an external source or
programmed with SSFM for low EMI. The PWMTG highside
PWM MOSFET driver assists with short-circuit protection
and versatility. LT3922-1 can be configured as a
boost, boost-buck, or buck mode LED driver and maintain
all of its low EMI, PWM dimming, and fault diagnostic
features.
The LT3922-1 can be PWM dimmed with an external PWM
signal or an internally-generated PWM signal. DC2857A
has a jumper that can be set to switch between internallygenerated
PWM signal, externally-generated PWM signal,
and no PWM signal (100% on). It can be analog dimmed
with a control voltage on its control pin (CTRL). When run with both PWM dimming and spread spectrum,
the spread spectrum aligns itself with the PWM signal for
flicker-free operation.
Small ceramic input and output capacitors are used to
save space and cost. The board is designed with tiny, high
frequency capacitors on both sides of the VOUT pins for
a reduction in radiated EMI. The open LED overvoltage
protection uses the IC’s constant voltage regulation loop
to regulate the output to approximately 37.5V if the LED
string is opened, although it may reach almost 40V peak
during transient from running LEDs to open. There is a
protection diode from LED+ to GND to prevent negative
ringing during a short-circuit. The output current can be
monitored through the ISMON output pin.
Undervoltage and overvoltage lockout can be adjusted on
the circuit with a few simple resistor choices.
There is an EMI filter on the input of DC2857A. Please
follow the recommend layout and four-layer thickness of
DC2857A for low EMI applications.

assembled in a 28-lead plastic 4mm × 5mm QFN package
with a thermally enhanced ground pad. Proper board layout
