AD8304-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8304 is a monolithic logarithmic detector optimized for the measurement of low frequency signal power in fiber optic systems. It uses an advanced translinear technique to provide an exceptionally large dynamic range in a versatile and easily used form. Its wide measurement range and accuracy are achieved using proprietary design techniques and precise laser trimming. In most applications only a single positive supply, VP, of 5 V will be required, but 3.0 V to 5.5 V can be used, and certain applications benefit from the added use of a negative supply, VN. When using low supply voltages, the log slope is readily altered to fit the available span. The low quiescent current and chip disable features facilitate use in battery-operated applications. The AD8304 is available in a 14-lead TSSOP package and specified for operation from -40?C to +85?C.

The ADATE320 is a complete, single-chip ATE solution that performs the pin electronics functions of a driver, comparator, and active load (DCL), and a four quadrant per pin parametric measurement unit (PPMU). Dedicated 16-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) with on-chip calibration registers provide all the necessary dc levels for operation of the device. The driver features three active modes: high, low, and terminate, as well as a high impedance inhibit state. The inhibit state, in conjunction with the integrated dynamic clamps, facilitates significant attenuation of transmission line reflections when the driver is not actively terminating the line. The open-circuit drive capability is ?1.5 V to +4.5 V to accommodate a standard range of ATE and instrumentation applications. The ADATE320 can be used as a dual, single-ended pin electronics channel or as a single differential channel. In addition to per channel high speed window comparators, the ADATE320 provides a programmable threshold differential comparator for differential ATE applications. All dc levels for DCL and PPMU functions are generated by dedicated, on-chip, 16-bit DACs. To facilitate the programming of accurate levels, the ADATE320 includes an integrated calibration function to correct for the gain and offset errors of each functional block. Correction coefficients can be stored on chip, and any values written to the DACs adjust automatically using the appropriate correction factors. The ADATE320 uses a serial programmable interface (SPI) bus to program all functional blocks, DACs, and on-chip calibration constants. It also has an on-chip temperature sensor and overvolt-age/undervoltage fault clamps that monitor and report the device temperature and any output pin or transient PPMU voltage faults that may occur during operation. The ADATE320 is available in two options. The standard option has high speed comparator outputs with 250 mV output swing. The ADATE320-1 has 400 mV output swing. LT8551 Demo Board | High Power Boost Converter Based on the Phase Expander
Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit 2896A-B demonstrates a high power boost converter and features the LT®8551 the phase expander with internal gate drivers. The DC2896A-B employs LTC3769, a single-phase boost controller as primary controller and LT8551 as the phase expander which added four more power phases. The increased number of power sections connected to the LT8551, results in greater higher level output power without a corresponding increase in the difficulty of the design or a sacrifice of primary controller LTC3769 features.
The input voltage range of DC2896A-B is from 10V to 46V and the output is 48V. The maximum input current is 12A per power section, so the maximum input current of DC2896A-B is 60A. It’s reflected to 30A of output current and output power of 1,440W at an input voltage of 24V. Correspondingly output current will drop to 14.5A and output power will to 720W at a 12V input voltage, to keep the input current at the same level of 60A. Both values will increase at higher voltages. The input current value can be increased above 60A, if heat sinks are installed, see parts list below.
The switching frequency is 250kHz and at a 24V input to 48VOUT at full load, the efficiency of DC2896A-B is 98%. As the input voltage decreases, the output current should be decreased as well, to prevent saturation of the DC2896A-B inductors, the derating curve presented on Figure 3. Efficiency curves presented on Figure 4.
DC2896A-B resistors R114 to R119 program the phase relationship between the power sections, by setting the Total Distinct Phase Number (TDPN). For increasing efficiency and reducing switching losses at light loads DC2896A-B supports disconnecting some power sections. This mode of operation designated as the stage shedding and it is programed by the jumper J3 STAGE SHED. Jumper JP1 programs the LT8551 SYNC pin and it allows DC2896A-B to be synchronized to an external clock. The print circuit board of DC2896A also supports two phase expander controllers, the LT8561 and LT8551, with versions DC2896A-A and DC2896A-B correspondingly. The table [1] in the electrical schematic describes differences between both versions, including controller biasing and gate drive voltages. DC2896A-B has jumper SHDN (JP2) for manually enable or disable controller. The SYNC (E19) input can be used to sync LT8551 with an external signal. There are also terminals that make it easy to monitor the control logic of the LT8551 functional. The current sense resistors RSNS1 to RSNS5 used for implementation of current mode control, monitoring and sharing current between the phases. To further increase efficiency DC2896A-B supports optional DCR sensing of inductors L1 to L5.
DC2896A-B includes sense line filters and filter options for inputs to the LT8551 in accordance with data sheet recommendations. Undervoltage shutdown, switching frequency and LT8551 ILIM current limit levels can all be adjusted by resistors or resistor jumpers. DC2896A-B comes with a housekeeping circuit based on U3 controller. It reduces the power dissipation that would otherwise occur at high input voltages in regulator transistor Q21. The housekeeping circuit also stabilizes converter biasing at sudden input voltage drops.
A high level of available output power without a corresponding high level of design complexity makes the LT8551 attractive for high power DC bus and battery systems in commercial, industrial and automotive settings. DC2896A-B features the LT8551EUKG in a thermally enhanced 52-pin 7mm × 8mm QFN package. EV-ADUCM320QSPZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADuCM320 is a fully integrated single package device that incorporates high performance analog peripherals together with digital peripherals controlled by an 80 MHz ARM Cortex-M3 processor and integral flash for code and data. The ADC on the ADuCM320 provides 14-bit, 1 MSPS data acquisition on up to 16 input pins that can be programmed for single-ended or differential operation. The voltage at the IDAC output pins can also be measured by the ADC, which is useful for controlling the power consumption of the current DACs. Additionally, chip temperature and supply voltages can be measured. The ADC input voltage is 0 V to VREF. A sequencer is provided, which allows a user to select a set of ADC channels to be measured in sequence without software involvement during the sequence. The sequence can optionally repeat automatically at a user selectable rate.Up to eight VDACs are provided with output ranges that are programmable to one of two voltage ranges.Four IDAC sources are provided. The output currents are programmable with ranges of 0 mA to 150 mA. A low drift band gap reference and voltage comparator completes the analog input peripheral set.The ADuCM320 can be configured so that the digital and analog outputs will retain their output voltages and currents through a watchdog or software reset sequence. Thus, a product can remain functional even while the ADuCM320 is resetting itself. The ADuCM320 has a low power ARM Cortex-M3 processor and a 32-bit RISC machine that offers up to 100 MIPS peak performance. Also integrated on chip are 2 ? 128 kB Flash/EE memory and 32 kB of SRAM. The flash comprises two separate 128 kB blocks supporting execution from one flash block and simultaneous writing/erasing of the other flash block. The ADuCM320 operates from an on-chip oscillator or a 16 MHz external crystal and a PLL at 80 MHz. This clock can optionally be divided down to reduce current consumption. Additional low power modes can be set via software. In normal operating mode, the ADuCM320 digital core consumes about 300 ?A per MHz.The device includes an MDIO interface capable of operating at up to 4 MHz. The capability to simultaneously execute from one flash block and write/erase the other flash block makes the ADuCM320 ideal for 10G, 40G, and 100G optical applications. User programming is eased by incorporating PHYADR and DEVADD hardware comparators. In addition, the nonerasable kernel code plus flags in user flash provide assistance by allowing user code to robustly switch between the two blocks of user flash code and data spaces. The ADuCM320 integrates a range of on-chip peripherals that can be configured under software control, as required in the appli-cation. These peripherals include 1 ? UART, 2 ? I2C, and 2 ? SPI serial input/output communication controllers, GPIO, 32-element programmable logic array, 3 general-purpose timers, plus a wake-up timer and system watchdog timer. A 16-bit PWM with seven output channels is also provided.GPIO pins on the device power up in high impedance input mode. In output mode, the software chooses between open-drain mode and push-pull mode. The pull-up resistors can be disabled and enabled in software. In GPIO output mode, the inputs can remain enabled to monitor the pins. The GPIO pins can also be programmed to handle digital or analog peripheral signals, in which case the pin characteristics are matched to the specific requirement.A large support ecosystem is available for the ARM Cortex-M3 processor to ease product development of the ADuCM320. Access is via the ARM serial wire debug port (SW-DP). On-chip factory firmware supports in-circuit serial download via MDIO. These features are incorporated into a low cost QuickStart development system supporting this precision analog microcontroller family. APPLICATIONS Optical networking
