The LTC6905 precision, programmable silicon oscillator is easy to use and occupies very little board space. It requires only a single resistor to set the output frequency from 17MHz to 170MHz with a typical frequency error of 0.5% or less.The LTC6905 operates with a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply and provides a rail-to-rail, 50% duty cycle square wave output. The CMOS output driver ensures fast rise/fall times and rail-to-rail switching. Operation is simple: A single resistor, RSET, between 10K to 25K is used to set the frequency, and an internal three-state divider (DIV input) allows for division of the master clock by 1, 2 or 4, providing three frequencies for each RSET value.The LTC6905 features a proprietary feedback loop that linearizes the relationship between RSET and frequency, eliminating the need for tables to calculate frequency. Demonstration circuit 2718A is a no-opto flyback converter featuring the LT8316. The demo board outputs 12V and maintains tight regulation with a load current from 30mA to 3A. It is optimized to operate over a wide 100V to 600V DC input voltage range. Output voltage accuracy stays within ±5% over the entire input voltage and load range. The LT8316 is a high voltage flyback controller. No optoisolator is needed for regulation. The part samples the output voltage from the isolated flyback waveform appearing across a third winding on the transformer. Quasi-resonant boundary mode operation improves load regulation. The LT8316 is available in a thermally enhanced 20-pin TSSOP package with four pins removed for high-voltage spacing. Demonstration circuit DC2527A-A features the LTM4662EY, a dual 15A or single 30A high efficiency, switch mode step-down power µModule regulator. The input voltage range is from 4.5V to 20V. With CPWR bias, input voltage can be as low as 2.375V. The output voltage range is 0.6V to 5.5V. Derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, frequency and thermal conditions. The DC2527A-A offers the TRACK/SS pin allowing the user to program output tracking or soft-start period. The board operates in continuous conduction mode in heavy load conditions. For high efficiency at low load currents, the MODE_PLLIN jumper can select discontinuous conduction mode. MODE_PLLIN pin also allows the LTM4662 to synchronize to an external clock signal (between 250kHz and 1MHz). DC2527A-A has the option of choosing both internal and external compensation circuit for LTM4662. Tying the PHASMD pin to different pins generates certain phases of CLKOUT and Channel 2. The LTM4662 data sheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual prior to working on or modifying demo circuit DC2527A-A.

Demonstration circuit DC1641 is DC/DC boost converter featuring the LTC3786 constant frequency current mode boost controller. The DC1641A operates over 5V to 24V input and provides over 5A at 6V input voltage and over 9A of output current at 10V input as shown in figure 3. The 350kHz constant frequency operation results in small and efficient circuit. The converter provides high output voltage accuracy (typically ±3%) over wide load range with no minimum load requirement. The demonstration circuit can be easily modified to generate different output voltages.

The ADM1178 is an integrated hot swap controller and current sense amplifier that offers digital current and voltage monitoring via an on-chip 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), communicated through an I2C? interface.An internal current sense amplifier measures voltage across the sense resistor in the power path via the VCC pin and the SENSE pin.The ADM1178 limits the current through this resistor by control-ling the gate voltage (via the GATE pin) of an external N-channel FET in the power path. The voltage across the sense resistor (and therefore the inrush current) is kept below a preset maximum.The ADM1178 protects the external FET by limiting the time that the maximum current runs through it. This current limit period is set by the value of the capacitor attached to the TIMER pin. Additionally, the device provides protection from overcurrent events that may occur after the hot swap event is complete. In case of a short-circuit event, the current in the sense resistor exceeds an overcurrent trip threshold, and the FET is switched off immediately by pulling down the GATE pin.A 12-bit ADC can measure the current seen in the sense resistor, as well as the supply voltage on the VCC pin. An alert output can be set to trigger when the ADC current reading exceeds a programmed overcurrent limit threshold.An industry-standard I2C interface allows a controller to read current and voltage data from the ADC. Measurements can be initiated by an I2C command. Alternatively, the ADC can run continuously, and the user can read the latest conversion data whenever it is required.
