The ADP2138 and ADP2139 are high efficiency, low quiescent current, synchronous step-down dc-to-dc converters. The ADP2139 has the additional feature of an internal discharge switch. The total solution requires only three tiny external components. When the MODE pin is set high, the buck regulator operates in forced PWM mode, which provides low peak-to-peak ripple for power supply noise sensitive loads at the expense of light load efficiency. When the MODE pin is set low, the buck regulator automatically switches operating modes, depending on the load current level. At higher output loads, the buck regulator operates in PWM mode. When the load current falls below a predefined threshold, the regulator operates in power save mode (PSM), improving light load efficiency.The ADP2138/ADP2139 operate on input voltages of 2.3 V to 5.5 V, which allows for single lithium or lithium polymer cell, multiple alkaline or NiMH cell, PCMCIA, USB, and other standard power sources. The maximum load current of 800 mA is achievable across the input voltage range.The ADP2138/ADP2139 are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3 V, 3.0 V, 2.8 V, 2.5 V, 1.8 V, 1.5 V, 1.2 V, 1.0 V, and 0.8 V. All versions include an internal power switch and synchronous rectifier for minimal external part count and high efficiency. The ADP2138/ADP2139 have internal soft start and they are internally compensated. During logic controlled shutdown, the input is disconnected from the output and the ADP2138/ADP2139 draw 0.2 ?A (typical) from the input source.Other key features include undervoltage lockout to prevent deep battery discharge, and soft start to prevent input current overshoot at startup. Demonstration circuit 1707 is a high efficiency monolithic step-down DC/DC switching regulator designed for double-data-rate (DDR) memory termination in computer systems. The VTT output is capable of sourcing and sinking up to 6A with an output voltage equal to one-half the voltage applied to the VDDQIN terminal or one-half the input supply voltage, selected by a jumper. An additional low current output (VTTR) also equal to one-half the voltage on VDDQIN can source and sink up to 10mA. Input voltage range is from 2.25V to 5.5V with overvoltage protection for transients exceeding 6.5V.

The board accepts an input voltage from 5V to 36V and delivers a jumper programmable output voltage of 3.3V, 5V or 12V. The rated load current is 5A for 3.3V and 5V output voltages, or 3A for a 12V output. Current derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, and thermal conditions.

The LTC2326-18 is a low noise, high speed 18-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC with pseudo-differential inputs. Operating from a single 5V supply, the LTC2326-18 has a ?10.24V true bipolar input range, making it ideal for high voltage applications which require a wide dynamic range. The LTC2326-18 achieves ?5LSB INL maximum, no missing codes at 18 bits with 95dB SNR.The LTC2326-18 has an onboard single-shot capable reference buffer and low drift (20ppm/?C max) 2.048V temperature compensated reference. The LTC2326-18 also has a high speed SPI-compatible serial interface that supports 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V logic while also featuring a daisy-chain mode. The fast 250ksps throughput with no cycle latency makes the LTC2326-18 ideally suited for a wide variety of high speed applications. An internal oscillator sets the conversion time, easing external timing considerations. The LTC2326-18 dissipates only 28mW and automatically naps between conversions, leading to reduced power dissipation that scales with the sampling rate. A sleep mode is also provided to reduce the power consumption of the LTC2326-18 to 300?W for further power savings during inactive periods. Demonstration circuit 976 is a Quadruple High Power LED Driver in Buck Mode featuring the LT3476EUHF. The LT3476 is a quad output, multitopology DC/DC converter designed to operate as a current source for driving high current LEDs. Each of the four regulators on the demo circuit is independently operated. The VIN power supply for the IC ranges from 2.8V to 16V. The PVIN power supply for the buck regulators ranges up to 33V. On the demo circuit, the default current for each output channel is 350mA but it can be adjusted up to 1.05A via resistor dividers at the VADJ pins. The output current should not exceed the rated current of the LEDs used. If 1W LEDs, such as the Lumileds Luxeon LEDs, are used, 350mA current is the maximum. 1A output current is reserved for 3W LEDs, such as Luxeon III. The input voltage is limited by the CAP pin overvoltage protection threshold. As a result, each channel of the demo circuit can drive up to 27V total LED voltage.

The LTC4245 Hot Swap? controller allows a board to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane in multiple supply systems such as CompactPCI and PCI Express. Using four external N-channel pass transistors, the board supply voltages can be ramped up at an adjustable rate and in any desired sequence. An I2C interface and on-board ADC allow monitoring of board current, voltage and fault status for each supply.The device features adjustable dI/dt controlled soft start and foldback limited inrush current. A dual-level timed circuit breaker and fast current limit protect each supply against overcurrent faults. A power good input with timeout allows a downstream supply monitor to disconnect the board supplies.
