The ADP5080 is a fully integrated, high efficiency power solution for multicell lithium ion battery applications. The device can connect directly to the battery, which eliminates the need for preregulators and, therefore, increases the battery life of the system.The ADP5080 integrates two keep-alive LDO regulators, five synchronous buck regulators, a configurable four-switch buck boost regulator, and a high voltage LDO regulator. The ADP5080 is a highly integrated power solution that incorporates all power MOSFETs, feedback loop compensation, voltage setting resistor dividers, and discharge switches, as well as a charge pump to generate a global bootstrap voltage.All these features help to minimize the number of external components and PCB space required, providing significant advantages for portable applications. The switching frequency is selectable on each channel from 750 kHz to 2 MHz.Key functions for power applications, such as soft start, selectable preset output voltage, and flexible power-up and power-down sequences, are provided on chip and are programmable via the I2C interface with fused factory defaults. The ADP5091/ADP5092 are intelligent, integrated energy harvesting, ultralow power management unit (PMU) solutions that convert dc power from PV cells or TEGs. These devices charge storage elements such as rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, thin film batteries, super capacitors, or conventional capacitors, and power up small electronic devices and battery free systems.The ADP5091/ADP5092 provide efficient conversion of the harvested limited power from a 6 ?W to 600 mW range with submicrowatt operation losses. With the internal cold start circuit, the regulator can start operating at an input voltage as low as 380 mV. After cold startup, the regulator is functional at an input voltage range of 0.08 V to 3.3 V. An additional 150 mA regulated output can be programmed by an external resistor divider or the VID pin.The MPPT control keeps the input voltage ripple in a fixed range to maintain stable dc-to-dc boost conversion. The dynamic sensing mode and no sensing mode, both programming regulation points of the input voltage, allow extraction of the highest possible energy from the harvester. A programmable minimum operation threshold enables boost shutdown during a low input condition.As a low light indicator for a microprocessor, the LLD pin of the ADP5091 is the MINOP comparator output. However, the REG_GOOD flag of the ADP5092 monitors the REG_OUT voltage. In addition, the DIS_SW pin can temporarily shut down the boost regulator and is RF transmission friendly.The charging control function of the ADP5091/ADP5092 protects the rechargeable energy storage, which is achieved by monitoring the battery voltage with the programmable charging termination voltage and the shutdown discharging voltage. The ADP5585 is a 10I/O port expander with built-in keypad matrix decoder, programmable logic, reset generator, and PWM generator. I/O expanders can be used to increase the number of I/Os available to a processor or to reduce the number of I/Os required through interface connectors for front panel designs.The ADP5585 handles all key scanning and decoding and can flag the main processor via an interrupt line that new key events have occurred. GPI changes and logic changes can also be tracked as events via the FIFO, eliminating the need to monitor different registers for event changes. The ADP5585 is equipped with a FIFO to store up to 16 events. The interleaved charge pump inverter exhibits reduced output voltage ripple and reflected input current noise over conventional inductive or conventional capacitive based solutions. The ADP7102 is a CMOS, low dropout linear regulator that operates from 3.3 V to 20 V and provides up to 300 mA of output current. This high input voltage LDO is ideal for regulation of high performance analog and mixed signal circuits operating from 19 V to 1.22 V rails. Using an advanced proprietary architecture, it provides high power supply rejection, low noise, and achieves excellent line and load transient response with just a small 1 ?F ceramic output capacitor. The ADP7102 is available in seven fixed output voltage options and an adjustable version, which allows output voltages that range from 1.22 V to VIN ? VDO via an external feedback divider. The ADP7102 output noise voltage is 15 ?V rms and is independent of the output voltage. A digital power good output allows power system monitors to check the health of the output voltage. A user programmable precision undervoltage lockout function facilitates sequencing of multiple power supplies. The ADP7102 is available in 8-lead, 3 mm ? 3 mm LFCSP and 8-lead SOIC packages. The LFCSP offers a very compact solution and also provides excellent thermal performance for applications requiring up to 300 mA of output current in a small, low-profile footprint. 3.3V VIN, Dual 2A, 6MHz Synchronous Step-Down Regulators at 1.8V and 2.0V Outputs, in a 0.71cm2 Solution

Demonstration Circuit DC2748A features the LTC3315B dual 5V, 2A Synchronous Step-Down DC/DC regulators operating at 6MHz. One regulator provides a 1.8V output and the other provides 2.0V, both up to a 2A load. The LTC3315B supports adjustable output voltages from 0.5V to VIN, operating frequencies from 3MHz up to 10MHz. The LTC3315B is a compact, high efficiency, and high speed synchronous monolithic step-down switching regulator. Fast minimum on-time of 25ns enables high VIN to low VOUT conversion at high frequency. The DC2748A operating mode may be selected as Burst Mode operation, Skip mode or Forced Continuous (FC) mode. Setting JP1 to the FC/SYNC position will allow the LTC3315B to sync to a clock frequency from 3MHz to 10MHz. The LTC3315B operates in Forced Continuous mode when syncing to an external clock. The LTC3315B data sheet gives a complete description of the device, operation and application information. The data sheet must be read in conjunction with the demo manual. The LTC3315B is assembled in a 2mm × 2mm LQFN package with exposed pads for low thermal resistance. The PCB Considerations section in the data sheet. LT8644S | 8V, 16A Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher 2

Demonstration circuit 2779A is an 8V, 16A synchronous step-down Silent Switcher® 2 with spread spectrum frequency modulation featuring the LT8644S. The demo board is designed for 1.2V output from a 2.7V to 8V input. The LT8644S is a compact, ultralow emission, high efficiency, and high speed synchronous monolithic stepdown switching regulator. The integrated bypass capacitors optimize all the fast current loops and make it easier to minimize EMI emissions by reducing layout sensitivity. Selectable spread spectrum mode further improves EMI performance, making it perfect solution to the noise sensitive applications. Peak current mode control with minimum on-time of as low as 20ns allows high step-down conversion even at high frequency. The LT8644S switching frequency can be programmed either via an external resistor or an external clock over a 300kHz to 3.5MHz range. The default frequency of demo circuit 2779A is 2MHz. The SYNC/MODE pin on the demo board DC2779A is grounded (JP1 at BURST position) by default for low ripple Burst Mode® operation. It can be configured into different operation modes through JP1 and SYNC terminal (Table 1 in the demo manual). Figure 4 in the demo manual shows the efficiency of the circuit at 3.3V input and 5V input in force continuous mode operation (input from VIN terminal). To get accurate efficiency measurement, measure the input voltage at the VIN_SENSE/GND terminals and measure the output voltage at the VOUT+ SENSE/VOUT– SENSE terminals. Figure 5 shows the LT8644S temperature rise on DC2779A demo board at 3.3V input and 5V input in forced continuous mode. The LT8644S is assembled in a 4mm × 4mm LQFN package with exposed pads for low thermal resistance. The rated maximum continuous load current is 16A, while derating may be necessary for certain input voltage and thermal conditions. The demo board has an EMI filter installed. This EMI filter can be included by applying the input voltage at the VEMI terminal. The EMI performance of the board (with EMI filter) is shown on Figure 6 in the demo manual. The red lines in EMI Performance are CISPR25 Class 5 limits. The figure shows that the LT8644S circuit passes the test with a wide margin. To achieve EMI performance as shown in Figure 6, the input EMI filter is required and the input voltage should be applied to VEMI terminal, and the test setup can be referred to the CISPR25 standards. If the input is applied to VIN terminal, the EMI filter is bypassed. The LT8644S data sheet gives a complete description of the part, the operation and application information. Demo board DC2783A features the LT3040, a 200mA high performance, robust voltage reference/DAC buffer. LT3040 has ultralow output noise, ultrahigh power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and low dropout voltage for powering noise sensitive, high accuracy systems. DC2783A has two inputs: V+ and VIN. V+ supplies power to the buffer, operating over a range from 2V to 20V. VIN is the regulation set-point for the output with a range from 0V to 15V. Current limit is programmable by connecting a resistor, R3, from ILIM to GND. The ILIM can also serve as a current monitor pin with a range from 0V to 300mV. LT3040 has fast start capability. Connecting FS pin across an input low pass filter resistor, R2, fast starts the LT3040. Fast start circuitry is typically triggered active if VFS − VIN ≥ 100mV and stays active until VFS – VIN ≤ 7mV. If fast start functionality is not needed, connect FS to VIN by setting R2 to 0Ω and applying the input voltage at FS. LT3040 has a fault flag to indicate faults at the output. Built-in protection includes reverse battery protection, reverse current protection, internal current limit with foldback and thermal limit with hysteresis. The LT3040 datasheet gives a complete description of the part, operation and applications information. The datasheet must be read in conjunction with this Demo Manual for demonstration circuit DC2783A. The LT3040 is assembled in a 12-lead MSOP and a 10-lead (3mm x 3mm) plastic DFN package with an exposed pad on the bottom-side of the IC. Proper board layout is essential for maximum thermal performance.
