The ADP5080 is a fully integrated, high efficiency power solution for multicell lithium ion battery applications. The device can connect directly to the battery, which eliminates the need for preregulators and, therefore, increases the battery life of the system.The ADP5080 integrates two keep-alive LDO regulators, five synchronous buck regulators, a configurable four-switch buck boost regulator, and a high voltage LDO regulator. The ADP5080 is a highly integrated power solution that incorporates all power MOSFETs, feedback loop compensation, voltage setting resistor dividers, and discharge switches, as well as a charge pump to generate a global bootstrap voltage.All these features help to minimize the number of external components and PCB space required, providing significant advantages for portable applications. The switching frequency is selectable on each channel from 750 kHz to 2 MHz.Key functions for power applications, such as soft start, selectable preset output voltage, and flexible power-up and power-down sequences, are provided on chip and are programmable via the I2C interface with fused factory defaults. Demonstration Circuit 658 is a complete power management system using the LTC3456 for portable applications powered by a wall adapter, a USB port or a 2-cell alkaline battery, in that order of priority. DC658 provides three outputs: a 1.8V, 200mA core supply, a 3.3V, 150mA main supply, and a 3.3V, 50mA Hot Swap supply. All outputs are discharged to ground during shutdown. The synchronous buck (1.8V output) and the second converter (which operates as a buck or a boost depending on the power source, and provides 3.3V @ 150mA and 3.3V @ 50mA outputs) accept a 2V to 3.2V battery input or USB/Wall adapter input.

The AD9083 is a 16-channel, 125 MHz bandwidth, continuous time ?-? (CTSD) ADC. The device features an on-chip, programmable, single-pole antialiasing filter and termination resistor that is designed for low power, small size, and ease of use. The 16 ADC cores features a first-order, CTSD modulator architecture with integrated, background nonlinearity correction logic and self cancelling dither. Each ADC features wide bandwidth inputs supporting a variety of user-selectable input ranges. An integrated voltage reference eases design considerations. The analog input and clock signals are differential inputs. Each ADC has a signal processing tile to filter out of band shaped noise from the ?-? ADC and reduce the sample rate. Each tile contains a cascaded integrator comb (CIC) filter, a quadrature digital downconverter (DDC) with multiple finite input response (FIR) decimation filters (decimate by J block), or up to three quadrature DDC channels with averaging decimation filters for data gating applications. Users can configure the Subclass 1 JESD204B based, high speed serialized output in a variety of lane configurations (up to four), depending on the DDC configuration and the acceptable lane rate of the receiving logic device. Multiple device synchronization is supported through the SYSREF?, TRIG?, and SYNCINB? input pins. The AD9083 has flexible power-down options that allow significant power savings when desired. All of these features can be programmed using a 1.8 V capable 3-wire serial port interface (SPI). Demonstration circuit 516A-B is a low output voltage, synchronous boost converter featuring the LTC3424. The LTC3424 is ideal for applications that require an output voltage between 1.5V to 2.6V from a single alkaline or NiCd/NiMH cell. A bias voltage (VDD) of 2.7V to 5.5V is required to power the internal circuitry. The input voltage (VIN) range is 1V to 1.6V, but once up and running, the device can operate with an input voltage as low as 0.5V. The output voltage is set at 1.8V. For a 1V minimum battery voltage, the LTC3424 can provide 600mA.

The LTC1730 is a complete pulse charger for 1-cell lithium-ion batteries. When charging a depleted cell, the internal MOSFET is fully on allowing the current limited input power source to provide charge current to the battery, virtually eliminating heat generation in the charger.As the battery accepts charge and approaches the programmed voltage, the internal MOSFET begins switching off and on with the duty cycle gradually decreasing as the battery approaches a fully charged condition. A programmable timer ends the charge cycle. The end-of-charge condition is indicated at the CHRG pin when the average charge current falls to C/10. Removing the input voltage puts the LTC1730 into a sleep mode, dropping the battery current drain to less than 1?A (maximum).An external sense resistor limits the maximum charge current as a safety precaution against a user connecting a wall adapter with the incorrect or no current limit. The LTC1700 is a current mode synchronous step-up DC/DC controller that drives external N-channel and P-channel power MOSFETs using a constant frequency PWM architecture. Current limiting is provided by sensing the voltage drop across the main MOSFET, eliminating the need of a sense resistor. This No RSENSE? technique helps the LTC1700 maintain high efficiency at heavy loads while Burst Mode operation ensures high efficiency at light loads, thus providing high efficiencies over a wide range of load currents.The LTC1700 operates at a minimum input voltage as low as 0.9V. The device boasts a ?1.5% output voltage accuracy and consumes only 200?A of quiescent current. In shutdown, it only draws 10?A.To prevent inductor current runaway, the duty cycle is limited to 90%. Overvoltage protection is also provided which shuts both the external MOSFETs off when tripped.High constant operating frequency of 530kHz allows the use of small inductors and output capacitors. The LTC1700 can also be synchronized between 400kHz to 750kHz.
