Demonstration circuit 2672A-A is a complete non-isolated 48V input, dual-output, high efficiency, high density µModule regulator with 30V to 58V input range. Each output can supply 25A maximum load current. The demo board has a LTM4664 µModule regulator, which is a dual 25A or single 50A step-down regulator with digital power system management. DC2672A-A powers up to default settings and produces power based on configuration resistors without the need for any serial bus communication. This allows easy evaluation of the DC/DC converter. To fully explore the extensive power system management features of the part, download the GUI software LTpowerPlay™ onto your PC and use ADI’s I2C/SMBus/PMBus dongle DC1613A to connect to the board. LTpowerPlay allows the user to reconfigure the part on the fly and store the configuration in EEPROM, view telemetry of voltage, current, temperature and fault status.

Demonstration circuit 2707B uses the LTC®4418 to arbitrate between two input supply rails, selecting the highest priority, valid supply to power the load. The V1 rail is defined to have higher priority and the V2 rail has lower priority. Both rails have individual overvoltage and undervoltage comparators for setting valid window thresholds with external resistive dividers. If the highest priority rail voltage V1 falls out of the defined window (overvoltage or undervoltage), the V2 rail, if it is valid, is enabled and powers the load. Two or more LTC4418s can be cascaded to provide switchover between more than two rails.

The LTC1520 is a high speed, precision differential line receiver that can operate at data rates as high as 50Mbps. A unique architecture provides very stable propagation delays and low skew over a wide input common mode, input overdrive and ambient temperature range. Propagation delay is 18ns ?3ns, while typically tPLH/tPHL skew is 500ps and channel-to-channel skew is 400ps.Each receiver translates differential input levels (VID ? 100mV) into valid CMOS and TTL output levels. Its high input resistance (?18k) allows many receivers to be connected to the same driver. The receiver outputs go into a high impedance state when disabled.Protection features include thermal shutdown and a controlled maximum short-circuit current (50mA max) that does not oscillate in and out of short-circuit mode. Input resistance remains ?18k when the device is unpowered or disabled, thus allowing the LTC1520 to be hot swapped into a backplane without loading the data lines.The LTC1520 operates from a single 5V supply and draws 12mA of supply current. The LTC1625 is a synchronous step-down switching regulator controller that drives external N-Channel power MOSFETs using few external components. Current mode control with MOSFET VDS sensing eliminates the need for a sense resistor and improves efficiency. The frequency of a nominal 150kHz internal oscillator can be synchronized to an external clock over a 1.5:1 frequency range.Burst Mode? operation at low load currents reduces switching losses and low dropout operation extends operating time in battery-powered systems. A forced continuous mode control pin can assist secondary winding regulation by disabling Burst Mode operation when the main output is lightly loaded.Fault protection is provided by foldback current limiting and an output overvoltage comparator. Demonstration Circuit 658 is a complete power management system using the LTC3456 for portable applications powered by a wall adapter, a USB port or a 2-cell alkaline battery, in that order of priority. DC658 provides three outputs: a 1.8V, 200mA core supply, a 3.3V, 150mA main supply, and a 3.3V, 50mA Hot Swap supply. All outputs are discharged to ground during shutdown. The synchronous buck (1.8V output) and the second converter (which operates as a buck or a boost depending on the power source, and provides 3.3V @ 150mA and 3.3V @ 50mA outputs) accept a 2V to 3.2V battery input or USB/Wall adapter input.

The LTC4230 is a 3-channel Hot Swap? controller that allows a board to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane. Internal high side switch drivers control the gates of external N-channel MOSFETs for supply voltages ranging from 1.7V to 16.5V. The LTC4230 provides soft-start and inrush current limiting during the programmable start-up period.On-chip current limit comparators provide dual level circuit breaker protection. The slow comparators trip at VCCn?? 50mV and activate in 10?s or are programmed by an external filter capacitor.
