The ADF4355 allows implementation of fractional-N or integer-N phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizers when used with an external loop filter and an external reference frequency. A series of frequency dividers permits operation from 54 MHz to 6800 MHz.The ADF4355 has an integrated VCO with a fundamental output frequency ranging from 3400 MHz to 6800 MHz. In addition, the VCO frequency is connected to divide by 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64 circuits that allow the user to generate radio frequency (RF) output frequencies as low as 54 MHz. For applications that require isolation, the RF output stage can be muted. The mute function is both pin and software controllable.Control of all on-chip registers is through a simple 3-wire interface. The LT5506 is a 40MHz to 500MHz monolithic integrated quadrature demodulator with variable gain amplifier (VGA), designed for low voltage operation. It supports standards that use a linear modulation format. The chip consists of a VGA, quadrature down-converting mixers and lowpass noise filters. The LO port consists of a divide-by-two stage and LO buffers. The IC provides all building blocks for IF down-conversion to I and Q baseband signals with a single supply voltage of 1.8V to 5.25V. The VGA gain has a linear-in- dB relationship to the control input voltage. Hard-clipping amplifiers at the mixer outputs reduce the recovery time from a signal overload condition. The lowpass filters reduce the out-of-band noise and spurious frequency components. The cut-off frequency of the noise filters is approximately 8.8MHz. The external 2xLO frequency is required to be twice the IF input frequency for the mixers. Demonstration Circuit 2611A features the LTC6955, Ultralow Jitter 11 Output Fanout Buffers. By default, the DC2611A is powered from a single 3.3V supply. An option is provided to power to the DC2611A from dual supplies, allowing for the LTC6955’s output supply pins to connect to an LTC Silent Switcher® and the LTC6955 input supply pin to connect to a low noise LDO. The differential inputs and six of the differential outputs are populated with 0.5" spaced SMA connectors. These outputs are AC-coupled with 50Ω transmission lines making them suitable to drive 50Ω impedance instruments. All registered trademarks and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. The remaining four differential outputs are terminated with 100Ω. A calibration path is provided to aid in accurate LTC6955 propagation delay measurements. The input voltage is from 4.5V to 15V. The output voltage is jumper selectable and can be set to 0.9V, 1.0V, 1.2V, 1.5V or 1.8V. DC2164A-A can deliver nominal 70A output current. As explained in the data sheet, output current derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, and thermal conditions. The LTM4630-1A on DC2164A-A always operate in continuous conduction mode. The switching frequency can be programmed through a resistor or can be synchronized to an external clock signal. The board allows the user to program how its output voltage ramps up and down through the TRACK pin.
