LT8644S | 8V, 16A Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher 2

Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit 2779A is an 8V, 16A synchronous step-down Silent Switcher® 2 with spread spectrum frequency modulation featuring the LT8644S. The demo board is designed for 1.2V output from a 2.7V to 8V input. The LT8644S is a compact, ultralow emission, high efficiency, and high speed synchronous monolithic stepdown switching regulator. The integrated bypass capacitors optimize all the fast current loops and make it easier to minimize EMI emissions by reducing layout sensitivity. Selectable spread spectrum mode further improves EMI performance, making it perfect solution to the noise sensitive applications. Peak current mode control with minimum on-time of as low as 20ns allows high step-down conversion even at high frequency. The LT8644S switching frequency can be programmed either via an external resistor or an external clock over a 300kHz to 3.5MHz range. The default frequency of demo circuit 2779A is 2MHz. The SYNC/MODE pin on the demo board DC2779A is grounded (JP1 at BURST position) by default for low ripple Burst Mode® operation. It can be configured into different operation modes through JP1 and SYNC terminal (Table 1 in the demo manual). Figure 4 in the demo manual shows the efficiency of the circuit at 3.3V input and 5V input in force continuous mode operation (input from VIN terminal). To get accurate efficiency measurement, measure the input voltage at the VIN_SENSE/GND terminals and measure the output voltage at the VOUT+ SENSE/VOUT– SENSE terminals. Figure 5 shows the LT8644S temperature rise on DC2779A demo board at 3.3V input and 5V input in forced continuous mode. The LT8644S is assembled in a 4mm × 4mm LQFN package with exposed pads for low thermal resistance. The rated maximum continuous load current is 16A, while derating may be necessary for certain input voltage and thermal conditions. The demo board has an EMI filter installed. This EMI filter can be included by applying the input voltage at the VEMI terminal. The EMI performance of the board (with EMI filter) is shown on Figure 6 in the demo manual. The red lines in EMI Performance are CISPR25 Class 5 limits. The figure shows that the LT8644S circuit passes the test with a wide margin. To achieve EMI performance as shown in Figure 6, the input EMI filter is required and the input voltage should be applied to VEMI terminal, and the test setup can be referred to the CISPR25 standards. If the input is applied to VIN terminal, the EMI filter is bypassed. The LT8644S data sheet gives a complete description of the part, the operation and application information. The data sheet must be read in conjunction with the demo manual for demo circuit 2779A. The layout recommendations for low EMI operation and maximum thermal performance are available in the data sheet section Low EMI PCB Layout and Thermal Considerations. EVAL-ADF7024DB2Z

Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF7024 is an ultralow power, integrated transceiver for use in the license-free ISM bands at 433 MHz, 868 MHz, and 915 MHz. Its ease of use and high performance make it suitable for a wide variety of wireless applications. The ADF7024 is suitable for operation under the European ETSI EN 300-220 regulation, the North American FCC Part 15 regulation, and other similar regulatory standards. The ADF7024 can operate under a number of predefined radio profiles. For each radio profile, optimized register settings are provided for the ADF7024 radio. This ensures that the RF communication layer works seamlessly, allowing the user to concentrate on the protocol and system level design and prototyping. The radio profiles cover common data rate and modulation options. There are six radio profiles in total, as shown in Table 1.The ADF7024 operates with a power supply range of 2.2 V to 3.6 V and has very low power consumption in both Tx and Rx modes, enabling long lifetimes in battery-operated systems while maintaining excellent RF performance. The low IF receiver minimizes power consumption and provides excellent sensitivity. The receiver is exceptionally linear and, therefore, is very resilient to the presence of interferers in spectrally noisy environments. The highly efficient transmitter has programmable output power up to 13.5 dBm and automatic power amplifier (PA) ramping to meet transient spurious specifications. The RF synthesizer comprises a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), a low noise fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) and a loop filter, all of which are fully integrated and automatically calibrated. This agile frequency synthesizer facilitates the implementation of frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) systems. The smart wake mode (SWM) allows the ADF7024 to wake up autonomously from sleep using the internal wake-up timer without intervention from the host processor. This functionality allows carrier sense, packet sniffing, and packet reception while the host processor is in sleep, thereby reducing overall system current consumption. The ADF7024 eases the processing burden of the host processor by integrating the lower layers of a typical communication protocol stack. The host processor can configure the ADF7024 using a simple command-based protocol over a standard 4-wire SPI interface. A single-byte command transitions the radio between states or performs a radio function.A complete wireless solution can be built using a small number of external discrete components and a host processor (typically a microcontroller). For more information, see the ADF7024 Hardware Reference Manual, UG-698, which is only available as part of the ADF7024 design resource package.APPLICATIONS Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) Home and building automation Asset tracking Process and building control Industrial control Internet of Things (IoT)

The AD7765 is a high performance, 24-bit sigma-delta (?-?) analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It combines wide input bandwidth, high speed, and performance of 112 dB dynamic range at a 156 kHz output data rate. With excellent dc specifications, the converter is ideal for high speed data acquisition of ac signals where dc data is also required.Using the AD7765 eases front-end antialias filtering requirements, simplifying the design process significantly. The AD7765 offers pin-selectable decimation rates of 128? and 256?. Other features include an integrated buffer to drive the reference, as well as a fully differential amplifier to buffer and level shift the input to the modulator. An overrange alert pin indicates when an input signal exceeds the acceptable range. The addition of internal gain and internal overrange registers makes the AD7765 a compact, highly integrated data acquisition device requiring minimal peripheral components. The AD7765 also offers a low power mode, significantly reducing power dissipation without reducing the output data rate or available input bandwidth. The differential input is sampled at up to 40 MSPS by an analog modulator. The modulator output is processed by a series of low-pass filters. The external clock frequency applied to the AD7765 determines the sample rate, filter corner frequencies, and output word rate. The AD7765 device boasts a full band on-board FIR filter. The full stop-band attenuation of the filter is achieved at the Nyquist frequency. This feature offers increased protection from signals that lie above the Nyquist frequency being aliased back into the input signal bandwidth. The reference voltage supplied to the AD7765 determines the input range. With a 4 V reference, the analog input range is ?3.2768 V differential, biased around a common mode of 2.048 V. This common-mode biasing is achieved using the on-chip differential amplifier, further reducing the external signal conditioning requirements. The AD7765 is available in a 28-lead TSSOP package and is specified over the industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C.APPLICATIONS Data acquisition systems Vibration analysis Instrumentation
