The AD8138 is a major advancement over op amps fordifferential signal processing. The AD8138 can be used as asingle-ended-to-differential amplifier or as a differential-to-differentialamplifier. The AD8138 is as easy to use as an opamp and greatly simplifies differential signal amplification anddriving. Manufactured on the proprietary ADI XFCB bipolarprocess, the AD8138 has a −3 dB bandwidth of 320 MHz anddelivers a differential signal with the lowest harmonic distortionavailable in a differential amplifier. The AD8138 has a uniqueinternal feedback feature that provides balanced output gainand phase matching, suppressing even order harmonics. Theinternal feedback circuit also minimizes any gain error thatwould be associated with the mismatches in the external gainsetting resistors. The differential output of the AD8138 helps balance the inputto differential ADCs, maximizing the performance of the ADC. The AD8138 eliminates the need for a transformer with highperformance ADCs, preserving the low frequency and dc information. The common-mode level of the differential output isadjustable by a voltage on the VOCM pin, easily level-shifting theinput signals for driving single-supply ADCs. Fast overloadrecovery preserves sampling accuracy. The AD8138 distortion performance makes it an ideal ADCdriver for communication systems, with distortion performancegood enough to drive state-of-the-art 10-bit to 16-bit convertersat high frequencies. The high bandwidth and IP3 of theAD8138 also make it appropriate for use as a gain block in IFand baseband signal chains. The AD8138 offset and dynamicperformance makes it well suited for a wide variety of signalprocessing and data acquisition applications. The AD8138 is available in both SOIC and MSOP packages foroperation over −40°C to +85°C temperatures. The AD8138-EP supports defense and aerospace applications (AQEC).

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8214 is a fast response, high common-mode voltage, current shunt comparator. The device operates on the high side rail of any DC current sensing application, provided the voltage is between 5 V and 65 V. Internally, the AD8214 features a fast comparator that is optimized for high side operation. An internal Zener regulator powers the circuit with respect to the high side DC rail. In addition, user access to this 2.4V regulator, allows for setting a comparator threshold voltage via external resistors. The AD8214 will compare the voltage across the shunt resistor to this user-selected threshold, and the AD8214 output will change states from low to high, indicating the current across the shunt has crossed the threshold level. The input to output response time of the AD8214 is typically less than 100 ns. This makes the device optimal for overcurrent protection in applications such as motor and solenoid control. Built-in comparator hysteresis means that once the current across the shunt falls back to a normal limit, the AD8214 output will change states to its original level. The AD8214 is available in an 8-lead MSOP package. The operating temperature range is −40°C to +125°C, and the device is fully qualified for automotive applications.ApplicationsOvercurrent protection Motor controls Transmission controls Diesel injection controls DC-to-DC converters Power supplies Batteries

The AD8220 is the first single-supply, JFET input instrumentation amplifier available in an MSOP package. Designed to meet the needs of high performance, portable instrumentation, the AD8220 has a minimum common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 86 dB at dc and a minimum CMRR of 80 dB at 5 kHz for G = 1. Maximum input bias current is 10 pA and typically remains below 300 pA over the entire industrial temperature range. Despite the JFET inputs, the AD8220 typically has a noise corner of only 10 Hz.With the proliferation of mixed-signal processing, the number of power supplies required in each system has grown. The AD8220 is designed to alleviate this problem. The AD8220 can operate on a ±18 V dual supply, as well as on a single +5 V supply. Its rail-to-rail output stage maximizes dynamic range on the low voltage supplies common in portable applications. Its ability to run on a single 5 V supply eliminates the need to use higher voltage, dual supplies. The AD8220 draws a maximum of 750 μA of quiescent current, making it ideal for battery powered devices.Gain is set from 1 to 1000 with a single resistor. Increasing the gain increases the common-mode rejection. The OP27 precision operational amplifier combines the low offset and drift of the OP07 with both high speed and low noise. Offsets down to 25µV and drift of 0.6µV/°C maximum make the OP27 ideal for precision instrumentation applications. Exceptionally low noise, a low 1/f noise corner frequency, and high gain (1.8 million), allow accurate high-gain amplification of low-level signals. A gain-bandwidth product of 8MHz and a 2.8V/µsec slew rate provides excellent dynamic accuracy in high-speed data-acquisition systems. A low input bias current of ±10nA typical is achieved by use of a bias-current-cancellation circuit. The output stage has good load driving capability. A guaranteed swing of ±10V into 600 Ohms and low output distortion make the OP27 an excellent choice for audio applications. PSRR and CMRR exceed 120dB. These characteristics, coupled with long-term drift of 0.2µV/month, allow the circuit designer to achieve performance levels previously attained only by discrete designs.
