AD9553/PCBZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD9553 is a phase-locked loop (PLL) based clock translator designed to address the needs of passive optical networks (PON) and base stations. The device employs an integer-N PLL to accommodate the applicable frequency translation requirements. The user supplies up to two single-ended input reference signals or one differential input reference signal via the REFA and REFB inputs. The device supports holdover applications by allowing the user to connect a 25 MHz crystal resonator to the XTAL input. The AD9553 is pin programmable, providing a matrix of standard input/output frequency translations from a list of 15 possible input frequencies to a list of 52 possible output frequency pairs (OUT1 and OUT2). The device also has a 3-wire SPI interface, enabling the user to program custom input-to-output frequency translations. The AD9553 output is compatible with LVPECL, LVDS, or single-ended CMOS logic levels, although the AD9553 is implemented in a strictly CMOS process. The AD9553 operates over the extended industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C.APPLICATIONS Cost effective replacement of high frequency VCXO, OCXO, and SAW resonators Extremely flexible frequency translation for SONET/SDH, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, DRFI/DOCSIS, and PON/EPON/GPON Wireless infrastructure Test and measurement (including handheld devices)

EVAL-ADF4158EB1Z
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF4158 is a 6.1 GHz, fractional-N frequency synthesizer with modulation and waveform generation capability. It contains a 25-bit fixed modulus, allowing subhertz resolution at 6.1 GHz. It consists of a low noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), a precision charge pump, and a programmable reference divider. There is a sigma-delta (?-?) based fractional interpolator to allow programmable fractional-N division. The INT and FRAC registers define an overall N-divider as N = INT + (FRAC/225).The ADF4158 can be used to implement frequency shift keying (FSK) and phase shift keying (PSK) modulation. There are also a number of frequency sweep modes available, which generate various waveforms in the frequency domain, for example, sawtooth and triangular waveforms. Sweeps can be set to run automatically, or each step manually triggered by an external pulse. The ADF4158 features cycle slip reduction circuitry, which leads to faster lock times, without the need for modifications to the loop filter.Control of all on-chip registers is via a simple 3-wire interface. The device operates with a power supply ranging from 2.7 V to 3.3 V and can be powered down when not in use.Applications Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar Communications test equipment

The synthesizer includes a 8GHz 16-bit RF N-Divider, a 24-bit delta-sigma modulator, a very low noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), and a precision controlled charge pump. In addition the synthesizer supports an external step tuned VCO.The fractional synthesizer features an advanced delta-sigma modulator design that allows ultra-fine frequency step sizes. The synthesizer features the ability to alter both the phase-frequency detector (PFD) gain and the cycle slipping characteristics of the PFD. This feature can reduce the time to arrive at the new frequency by 50% vs. conventional PFDs. Ultra low in-close phase noise also allows wider loop bandwidths for faster frequency hopping. The synthesizer contains a built-in linear sweeper function, which allows it to perform frequency chirps with a wide variety of sweep times, polarities and dwells, all with an external or automatic sweep trigger.A General Purpose Output (GPO) bus supports the use of multiple VCO s. In addition the synthesizer has a number of auxiliary clock generation modes that can be accessed via the GPO.Applications Base Stations for Mobile Radio (GSM, PCS, DCS, CDMA, WCDMA) Wireless LANs, WiMax Communications Test Equipment CATV Equipment FMCW Sensors Automotive Radar Phased-Array Systems
