The ADuM3400/ADuM3401/ADuM3402 are 4-channel digitalisolators based on the Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler® technology.Combining high speed CMOS and monolithic air coretransformer technology, these isolation components provideoutstanding performance characteristics superior to alternativessuch as optocoupler devices.iCoupler devices remove the design difficulties commonlyassociated with optocouplers. Typical optocoupler concernsregarding uncertain current transfer ratios, nonlinear transferfunctions, and temperature and lifetime effects are eliminatedwith the simple iCoupler digital interfaces and stable performancecharacteristics. The need for external drivers and other discretecomponents is eliminated with these iCoupler products. Furthermore,iCoupler devices consume one-tenth to one-sixth thepower of optocouplers at comparable signal data rates.The isolators provide four independent isolation channels in avariety of channel configurations and data rates (see theOrdering Guide). All models operate with the supply voltage oneither side ranging from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, providing compatibilitywith lower voltage systems as well as enabling a voltagetranslation functionality across the isolation barrier. Theisolators have a patented refresh feature that ensures dc correctnessin the absence of input logic transitions and during powerup/power-downconditions.In comparison to the ADuM1400/ADuM1401/ADuM1402isolators, the ADuM3400/ADuM3401/ADuM3402 isolatorscontain various circuit and layout changes to provide increasedcapability relative to system-level IEC 61000-4-x testing (ESD/burst/surge). The precise capability in these tests for either set ofisolators is strongly determined by the design and layout of theuser’s board or module. The AD5162 provides a compact 3 mm × 4.9 mm packaged solution for dual 256 position adjustment applications. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a 3-terminal mechanical potentiometer.Available in four different end-to-end resistance values (2.5 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, 100 kΩ), this low temperature coefficient device is ideal for high accuracy and stability-variable resistance adjustments.The wiper settings are controllable through the SPI compatible digital interface. The resistance between the wiper and either end point of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the RDAC latch.Operating from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply and consuming less than 6 µA allows the AD5162 to be used in portable battery-operated applications.For applications that program the AD5162 at the factory, Analog Devices offers device programming software running on Windows® NT/2000/XP operating systems. This software effectively replaces the need for external SPI controllers, which in turn enhances the time to market of systems. An AD5162 evaluation kit and software are available. The AD5204/AD5206 provide 4-/6-channel, 256-position digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) devices. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. Each channel of the AD5204/AD5206 contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digital code loaded into the SPI-compatible serial-input register. The resistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the VR latch. The variable resistor offers a completely programmable value of resistance between the A terminal and the wiper or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, or 100 kΩ has a nominal temperature coefficient of 700 ppm/°C.Each VR has its own VR latch that holds its programmed resistance value. These VR latches are updated from an internal serial-to-parallel shift register that is loaded from a standard 3-wire serial-input digital interface. Eleven data bits make up the data-word clocked into the serial input register. The first three bits are decoded to determine which VR latch is loaded with the last eight bits of the data-word when the CS strobe is returned to logic high. A serial data output pin at the opposite end of the serial register (AD5204 only) allows simple daisy chaining in multiple VR applications without requiring additional external decoding logic.An optional reset (PR) pin forces all the AD5204 wipers to the midscale position by loading 0x80 into the VR latch.The AD5204/AD5206 are available in the 24-lead surface-mount SOIC and TSSOP packages. The AD5204 is also available in a 32-lead, 5 mm × 5 mm LFCSP package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C. The HMC6147ALC5A is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q downconverter in a leadless RoHS compliant SMT package. This device provides a small signal conversion gain of 13 dB with 25 dBc of sideband rejection. The HMC6147ALC5A utilizes a low noise amplifier to drive the I/Q mixer where the LO is driven by a X2 multiplier. IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are provided and an external 90° hybrid is needed to select the required sideband.The I/Q mixer topology reduces the need for filtering of the unwanted sideband.
