MAX3946ETG+T
Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX3946 is a +3.3V, multirate, low-power laser diode driver designed for Ethernet and Fibre Channel transmission systems at data rates up to 11.3Gbps. This device is optimized to drive a differential transmitter optical subassembly (TOSA) with a 25Ω flex circuit. The unique design of the output stage enables use of unmatched TOSAs, greatly reducing headroom limitations and lowering power consumption. The device receives differential CML-compatible signals with on-chip line termination. It can deliver laser modulation current of up to 80mA, at an edge speed of 22ps (20% to 80%), into a 5Ω to 25Ω external differential load. The device is designed to have a symmetrical output stage with on-chip back terminations integrated into its outputs. A high-bandwidth, fully differential signal path is implemented to minimize deterministic jitter. An equalization block can be activated to compensate for the SFP+ connector. The integrated bias circuit provides programmable laser bias current up to 80mA. Both the laser bias generator and the laser modulator can be disabled from a single pin.A 3-wire digital interface reduces the pin count and permits adjustment of input equalization, pulse-width adjustment, Tx polarity, Tx deemphasis, modulation current, and bias current without the need for external components. The MAX3946 is available in a 4mm x 4mm, 24-pin TQFN package.Applications10GBASE-LR SFP+ Optical Transceivers10GBASE-LRM SFP+ Optical Transceivers10GFC SFP+ Optical Transceivers4x/8x FC SFP+ Optical TransceiversOC192-SR XFP/SFP+ SDH/SONET Transceivers

The MAX8834Y/MAX8834Z flash drivers integrate a 1.5A PWM DC-DC step-up converter and three programmable low-side, low-dropout LED current regulators. The step-up converter features an internal switching MOSFET and synchronous rectifier to improve efficiency and minimize external component count. An I²C interface provides flexible control of stepup converter output voltage setting, movie/flash mode selection, flash timer duration settings, and current regulator settings. The MAX8834Y/MAX8834Z operate down to 2.5V, making them future proof for new battery technologies. The MAX8834Y/MAX8834Z consist of two current regulators for the flash/movie mode. Each current regulator can sink 750mA in flash mode and 125mA in movie mode. The MAX8834Y/MAX8834Z also integrate a 16mA low-current regulator that can be used to indicate camera status. The indicator current regulator includes programmable ramp and blink timer settings. A programmable input current limit, invoked using the GSMB control, reduces the total current drawn from the battery during PA transmit events. This ensures the flash current is set to the maximum possible for any given operating condition. Additionally, the MAX8834Y/MAX8834Z include a MAXFLASH function that adaptively reduces flash current during low battery conditions to help prevent system undervoltage lockup.Other features include an optional NTC input for finger-burn protection and open/short LED detection. The MAX8834Y switches at 2MHz, providing best overall efficiency. The MAX8834Z switches at 4MHz, providing smallest overall solution size. The MAX8834Y/MAX8834Z are available in a 20-bump, 0.5mm pitch WLP package (2.5mm x 2.0mm).ApplicationsCell Phones and Smart PhonesPDAs, Digital Cameras, and Camcorders

The LT3592 is a fixed frequency step-down DC/DC converter designed to operate as a constant-current source. An external sense resistor monitors the output current allowing accurate current regulation, ideal for driving high current LEDs. The output current can be dimmed by a factor of 10 using an external signal for nighttime brake lights. The high switching frequency offers several advantages by permitting the use of a small inductor and small ceramic capacitors. Small components combined with the LT3592’s 10-pin DFN leadless surface mount package save space and cost versus alternative solutions. The constant switching frequency combined with low-impedance ceramic capacitors result in low, predictable output ripple. A wide input voltage range of 3.6V to 36V makes the LT3592 useful in a variety of applications. Current mode PWM architecture provides fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limiting. Thermal shutdown provides additional protection.Applications Automotive Signal Lighting Industrial Lighting Constant-Current, Constant Voltage Supplies

The MAX6964 I²C-compatible serial interfaced peripheral provides microprocessors with 17 output ports. Each output is an open-drain current-sinking output rated at 50mA and 7V. The outputs are capable of driving LEDs, or providing logic outputs with external resistive pullup up to 7V.Eight-bit PWM current control is also integrated. Four of the bits are global control and apply to all LED outputs to provide coarse adjustment of current from fully off to fully on with 14 intensity steps. Additionally, each output has an individual 4-bit control, which further divides the globally set current into 16 more steps. Alternatively, the current control can be configured as a single 8-bit control that sets all outputs at once. Each output has independent blink timing with two blink phases. LEDs can be individually set to be either on or off during either blink phase, or to ignore the blink control. The blink period is controlled by an external clock (up to 1kHz) on BLINK or by a register. The BLINK input can also be used as a logic control to turn the LEDs on and off, or as a general-purpose input (GPI). The MAX6964 supports hot insertion. The SDA, SCL, active-low RST, BLINK, and the slave address input ADO remain high impedance in power-down (V+ = 0V) with up to 6V asserted upon them. The output ports remain high impedance with up to 8V asserted upon them. The MAX6964 is controlled through a 2-wire I²C serial interface, and can be configured to one of four I²C addresses.ApplicationsKeypad BacklightsLCD BacklightsLED Status IndicationRGB LED Drivers
