ADF4158CCPZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF4158 is a 6.1 GHz, fractional-N frequency synthesizer with modulation and waveform generation capability. It contains a 25-bit fixed modulus, allowing subhertz resolution at 6.1 GHz. It consists of a low noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), a precision charge pump, and a programmable reference divider. There is a sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) based fractional interpolator to allow programmable fractional-N division. The INT and FRAC registers define an overall N-divider as N = INT + (FRAC/225).The ADF4158 can be used to implement frequency shift keying (FSK) and phase shift keying (PSK) modulation. There are also a number of frequency sweep modes available, which generate various waveforms in the frequency domain, for example, sawtooth and triangular waveforms. Sweeps can be set to run automatically, or each step manually triggered by an external pulse. The ADF4158 features cycle slip reduction circuitry, which leads to faster lock times, without the need for modifications to the loop filter.Control of all on-chip registers is via a simple 3-wire interface. The device operates with a power supply ranging from 2.7 V to 3.3 V and can be powered down when not in use.Applications Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar Communications test equipment

ADF4196BCPZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF4196 frequency synthesizer can be used to implement local oscillators (LO) in the upconversion and downconversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters. Its architecture isspecifically designed to meet the GSM/EDGE lock time requirements for base stations, and the fast settling feature makes theADF4196 suitable for pulse Doppler radar applications. The ADF4196 consists of a low noise, digital phase frequency detector (PFD) and a precision differential charge pump. A differential amplifier converts the differential charge pump output to a single-ended voltage for the external voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) based fractional interpolator, working with the N divider, allows programmable modulus fractional-N division. Additionally, the 4-bit reference (R) counter and on-chip frequency doubler allow selectable reference signal (REFIN) frequencies at the PFD input.A complete phase-locked loop (PLL) can be implemented if the synthesizer is used with an external loop filter and a VCO. The switching architecture ensures that the PLL settles within the GSM time slot guard period, removing the need for a second PLL and associated isolation switches. This decreases the cost, complexity, PCB area, shielding, and characterization found on previous ping-pong GSM PLL architectures.Applications GSM/EDGE base stations PHS base stations Pulsed Doppler radar Instrumentation and test equipment Beam-forming/phased array systems

ADF7021-VBCPZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF7021-V is a high performance, low power, narrow-band RF transceiver based on the ADF7021-N. The architecture of the ADF7021-V transceiver is similar to that of the ADF7021-N except that an external VCO is used by the on-chip RF synthesizer for applications that require improved phase noise performance. The ADF7021-V is designed to operate in both the license-free ISM bands and in the licensed bands from 80 MHz to 960 MHz.To minimize RF feedthrough and spurious emissions, the external VCO operates at 2× or 4× the desired RF frequency; the ADF7021-V supports a maximum VCO frequency operation of 1920 MHz. The 4× VCO operation is programmable by enabling an additional on-chip divide-by-2 outside the RF synthesizer loop and offers improved phase noise performance. As with the ADF7021-N receiver, the IF filter bandwidths of 9 kHz, 13.5 kHz, and 18.5 kHz are supported, making the ADF7021-V ideally suited to worldwide narrow-band telemetry applications. The part has both Gaussian and raised cosine transmit data filtering options to improve spectral efficiency for narrow-band applications. It is suitable for circuit applications targeted at the following: European ETSI EN 300 220 North American FCC Part 15, Part 90, and Part 95 Japanese ARIB STD-T67 Korean short-range device regulations Chinese short-range device regulationsA complete transceiver can be built using a small number of discrete external components, making the ADF7021-V very suitable for area-sensitive, high performance driven applications.See data sheet for more information.APPLICATIONS Narrow-band, short range device (SRD) standards ETSI EN 300 220 FCC Part 90 (meets Emission Mask D requirements) FCC Part 95 ARIB STD-T67 Wireless Metering Narrow-band wireless telemetry

ADL5240ACPZ-R7
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL5240 is a high performance, digitally controlled variable gain amplifier (VGA) operating from 100 MHz to 4000 MHz. The VGA integrates a high performance, 20 dB gain, internally matched amplifier (AMP) with a 6-bit digital step attenuator (DSA) that has a gain control range of 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps with ±0.25 dB step accuracy. The attenuation of the DSA can be controlled using a serial or parallel interface. Both the gain block and DSA are internally matched to 50 Ω at their inputs and outputs and are separately biased. The separate bias allows all or part of the ADL5240 to be used, which facilitates easy reuse throughout a design. The pinout of the ADL5240 also enables either the gain block or DSA to be first, giving the VGA maximum flexibility in a signal chain. The ADL5240 consumes just 93 mA and operates from a single supply ranging from 4.75 V to 5.25 V. The VGA is packaged in a thermally efficient, 5 mm × 5 mm, 32-lead LFCSP and is fully specified for operation from −40°C to +85°C. A fully populated evaluation board is available.ApplicationsWireless infrastructureAutomated test equipmentRF/IF gain control

The ADF4108 frequency synthesizer can be used to implement local oscillators in the up-conversion and down-conversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters. It consists of a low-noise digital PFD (phase frequency detector), a precision charge pump, a programmable reference divider, programmable A and B counters, and a dual-modulus prescaler (P/P + 1). The A (6-bit) and B (13-bit) counters, in conjunction with the dual-modulus prescaler (P/P + 1), implement an N divider (N = BP + A). In addition, the 14-bit reference counter (R counter), allows selectable REFIN frequencies at the PFD input. A complete PLL (phase-locked loop) can be implemented if the synthesizer is used with an external loop filter and VCO (voltage controlled oscillator). Its very high bandwidth (8GHz) means that frequency doublers or prescalers can be eliminated in many high frequency systems, simplifying system architecture and reducing cost.APPLICATIONS Broadband wireless access Satellite systems Instrumentation Wireless LANs Base stations for wireless radio

The LTC5577 active mixer is optimized for RF downconverting applications that require high input signal handling capability and wide bandwidth. The wideband IF output uses external resistors to set the output impedance, allowing the flexibility to match directly into differential IF loads, such as filters and amplifiers. The part is characterized and specified with a 100Ω differential output impedance, although it can be used with output impedances ranging from 50Ω to 400Ω, with higher gain and reduced IIP3 and P1dB at the higher impedance levels. The IF output is usable up to 1.5GHz.In receiver applications, the high input P1dB and IIP3 allow the use of higher gain low noise amplifiers, resulting in higher receiver sensitivity. Integrated transformers on the RF and LO inputs provide single-ended 50Ω interfaces, while minimizing the solution size.Applications Wireless Infrastructure Receivers DPD Observation Receivers CATV Infrastructure
