AD536AJDZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD536A is a complete monolithic integrated circuit that performs true rms-to-dc conversion. It offers performance comparable or superior to that of hybrid or modular units costing much more. The AD536A directly computes the true rms value of any complex input waveform containing ac and dc components. A crest factor compensation scheme allows measurements with 1% error at crest factors up to 7. The wide bandwidth of the device extends the measurement capability to 300 kHz with less than 3 dB errors for signal levels greater than 100 mV.An important feature of the AD536A, not previously available in rms converters, is an auxiliary dB output pin. The logarithm of the rms output signal is brought out to a separate pin to allow the dB conversion, with a useful dynamic range of 60 dB. Using an externally supplied reference current, the 0 dB level can be conveniently set to correspond to any input level from 0.1 V to 2 V rms.The AD536A is laser trimmed to minimize input and output offset voltage, to optimize positive and negative waveform symmetry (dc reversal error), and to provide full-scale accuracy at 7 V rms. As a result, no external trims are required to achieve the rated unit accuracy. The input and output pins are fully protected. The input circuitry can take overload voltages well beyond the supply levels. Loss of supply voltage with the input connected to external circuitry does not cause the device to fail. The output is short-circuit protected. The AD536A is available in two accuracy grades (J and K) for commercial temperature range (0°C to 70°C) applications, and one grade (S) rated for the −55°C to +125°C extended range. The AD536AK offers a maximum total error of ±2 mV ± 0.2% of reading, while the AD536AJ and AD536AS have maximum errors of ±5 mV ± 0.5% of reading. All three versions are available in a hermetically sealed 14-lead DIP or a 10-pin TO-100 metal header package. The AD536AS is also available in a 20-terminal leadless hermetically sealed ceramic chip carrier. The AD536A computes the true root-mean-square level of a complex ac (or ac plus dc) input signal and provides an equivalent dc output level. The true rms value of a waveform is a more useful quantity than the average rectified value because it relates directly to the power of the signal. The rms value of a statistical signal also relates to its standard deviation. An external capacitor is required to perform measurements to the fully specified accuracy. The value of this capacitor determines the low frequency ac accuracy, ripple amplitude, and settling time. The AD536A operates equally well from split supplies or a single supply with total supply levels from 5 V to 36 V. With 1 mA quiescent supply current, the device is well suited for a wide variety of remote controllers and battery-powered instruments.

AD627ARZ-RL

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD627 is an integrated, micropower instrumentation amplifier that delivers rail-to-rail output swing on single and dual (+2.2 V to ±18 V) supplies. The AD627 provides excellent ac and dc specifications while operating at only 85 μA maximum. The AD627 offers superior flexibility by allowing the user to set the gain of the device with a single external resistor while con-forming to the 8-lead industry-standard pinout configuration. With no external resistor, the AD627 is configured for a gain of 5. With an external resistor, it can be set to a gain of up to 1000.A wide supply voltage range (+2.2 V to ±18 V) and micropower current consumption make the AD627 a perfect fit for a wide range of applications. Single-supply operation, low power consumption, and rail-to-rail output swing make the AD627 ideal for battery-powered applications. Its rail-to-rail output stage maximizes dynamic range when operating from low supply voltages. Dual-supply operation (±15 V) and low power consumption make the AD627 ideal for industrial applications, including 4 to 20 mA loop-powered systems. The AD627 does not compromise performance, unlike other micropower instrumentation amplifiers. Low voltage offset, offset drift, gain error, and gain drift minimize errors in the system. The AD627 also minimizes errors over frequency by providing excellent CMRR over frequency. The AD652 Synchronous Voltage-to-Frequency Converter (SVFC) is a powerful building block for precision analog-to-digital conversion, offering typical nonlinearity of 0.002% (0.005% maximum) at a 100 kHz output frequency. The inherent monotonicity of the transfer function and wide range of clock frequencies allows the conversion time and resolution to be optimized for specific applications. The AD652 uses a variation of the popular charge-balancing technique to perform the conversion function. The AD652 uses an external clock to define the full-scale output frequency, rather than relying on the stability of an external capacitor. The result is a more stable, more linear transfer function, with significant application benefits in both single and multichannel systems.Gain drift is minimized using a precision low drift reference and low TC on-chip thin-film scaling resistors. Furthermore, the initial gain error is reduced to less than 0.5% by the use of laser-wafer-trimming.The analog and digital sections of the AD652 have been designed to allow operation from a single-ended power source, simplifying its use with isolated power supplies. The AD652 is available in five performance grades. The 20-pin PLCC packaged JP and KP grades are specified for operation over the 0°C to +70°C commercial temperature range. The 16-pin CERDIP-packaged AQ and BQ grades are specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C industrial temperature range, and the AD652SQ is available for operation over the full -55°C to +125°C extended temperature range.

AD7328BRUZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7328 is an 8-channel, 12-bit plus sign, successive approximation ADC designed on the iCMOS™ (industrial CMOS) process. iCMOS is a process combining high voltage silicon with submicron CMOS and complementary bipolar technologies. It enables the development of a wide range of high performance analog ICs capable of 33 V operation in a footprint that no previous generation of high voltage parts could achieve. Unlike analog ICs using conventional CMOS processes, iCMOS components can accept bipolar input signals while providing increased performance, dramatically reduced power consumption, and reduced package size. The AD7328 can accept true bipolar analog input signals. The AD7328 has four software-selectable input ranges, ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V, and 0 V to +10 V. Each analog input channel can be independently programmed to one of the four input ranges. The analog input channels on the AD7328 can be programmed to be single-ended, true differential, or pseudo differential. The ADC contains a 2.5 V internal reference. The AD7328 also allows for external reference operation. If a 3 V reference is applied to the REFIN/OUT pin, the AD7328 can accept a true bipolar ±12 V analog input. Minimum ±12 V VDD and VSS supplies are required for the ±12 V input range. The ADC has a high speed serial interface that can operate at throughput rates up to 1 MSPS.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS The AD7328 can accept true bipolar analog input signals, ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2.5 V, and 0 V to +10 V unipolar signals The eight analog inputs can be configured as eight single-ended inputs, four true differential input pairs, four pseudo differential inputs, or seven pseudo differential inputs 1 MSPS serial interface. SPI®-/QSPI™-/DSP-/MICROWIRE™-compatible interface Low power, 30 mW, at a maximum throughput rate of 1 MSPS Channel sequencer
