Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7730L is a complete analog front end for weigh-scale and pressure measurement applications. The device accepts low-level signals directly from a transducer and outputs a serial digital word. Theinput signal is applied to a proprietary programmable gain front end based around an analog modulator. The modulator output is processed by a low pass programmable digital filter, allowing adjustment of filter cutoff, output rate and settling time. The part features two buffered differential programmable gain analog inputs as well as a differential reference input. The device operates from a single +5 V supply. It accepts four unipolar analog input ranges: 0 mV to +10 mV, +20 mV, +40 mV and +80 mV and four bipolar ranges: ±10 mV, ±20 mV, ±40 mV and ±80 mV. The peak-to-peak resolution achievable directly from the part is 1 in 110,000 counts. An on-chip 6-bit DAC allows the removal of TARE voltages. Clock signals for synchronizing ac excitation of the bridge are also provided. The serial interface on the part can be configured for three-wire operation and is compatible with microcontrollers and digital signal processors. The AD7730L contains self-calibration and system calibration options, and features an offset drift of less than 5 nV/°C and a gain drift of less than 3 ppm/°C. The part is available in a 24-lead SOIC and 24-lead TSSOP package. It is a lower power version of the AD7730 (approximately 1/3 the power).

The ADCMP563/ADCMP564 are high speed comparatorsfabricated on Analog Devices’ proprietary XFCB process. Thedevices feature a 700 ps propagation delay with less than 75 psoverdrive dispersion. Dispersion, a measure of the difference inpropagation delay under differing overdrive conditions, is a particularlyimportant characteristic of high speed comparators. A separateprogrammable hysteresis pin is available on the ADCMP564.A differential input stage permits consistent propagation delaywith a wide variety of signals in the common-mode range from−2.0 V to +3.0 V. Outputs are complementary digital signals thatare fully compatible with ECL 10 K and 10 KH logic families. The outputs provide sufficient drive current to directly drivetransmission lines terminated in 50 Ω to −2 V. A latch input, which is included, permits tracking, track-and-hold, or sample-and-holdmodes of operation. The latch input pins contain internalpull-ups that set the latch in tracking mode when left open. The ADCMP563/ADCMP564 are specified over the industrialtemperature range (−40°C to +85°C).Applications Automatic test equipment High speed instrumentation Scope and logic analyzer front ends Window comparators High speed line receivers Threshold detection Peak detection High speed triggers Patient diagnostics Hand-held test instruments Zero crossing detectors Line receivers and signal restoration Clock drivers

The AD7470/AD7472 are 10-bit /12-bit high speed, low power, successive-approximation ADCs. The parts operate from a single 2.7 V to 5.25 V power supply and feature throughput rates up to 1.5 MSPS for the 12-bit AD7472 and up to 1.75 MSPS for the 10-bit AD7470. The parts contain a low-noise, wide bandwidth track/hold amplifier which can handleinput frequencies in excess of 20 MHz.The conversion process and data acquisition are controlledusing standard control inputs, allowing easy interfacing tomicroprocessors or DSPs. The input signal is sampled on thefalling edge of CONVST, and conversion is also initiated atthis point. BUSY goes high at the start of conversion andgoes low 531.66 ns after falling edge of CONVST (AD7472with a clock frequency of 26 MHz) to indicate that the conversionis complete. There are no pipeline delays associatedwith the parts. The conversion result is accessed via standardCS and RD signals over a high speed parallel interface. The AD7470/AD7472 use advanced design techniques toachieve very low power dissipation at high throughput rates. With3 V supplies and 1.5 MSPS throughput rates, the AD7470typically consumes, on average, just 1.1 mA. With 5 V suppliesand 1.75 MSPS, the average current consumption is typically1.6 mA. The part also offers flexible power/throughput ratemanagement. Operating the AD7470 with 3 V supplies and500 kSPS throughput reduces the current consumption to 713 μA.At 5 V supplies and 500 kSPS, the part consumes 944 μA.It is also possible to operate the parts in an auto sleep mode, where the part wakes up to do a conversion and automaticallyenters sleep mode at the end of conversion. This method allowsvery low power dissipation numbers at lower throughput rates. In this mode, the AD7472 can be operated with 3 V supplies at100 kSPS, and consume an average current of just 124 μA. At5 V supplies and 100 kSPS, the average current consumption is171 μA.The analog input range for the part is 0 V to REF IN. The 2.5 Vreference is applied externally to the REF IN pin. The conversionrate is determined by the externally-applied clock.ol { margin-top:0px; margin-right:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:25px; padding-top:0px; padding-right:0px; padding-bottom:10px; padding-left:0px;}li { padding-top:0px; padding-right:0px; padding-bottom:5px; padding-left:0px; margin-top:0px; margin-right:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px;}Product HighlightsHigh Throughput with Low Power Consumption. TheAD7470 offers 1.75 MSPS throughput and the AD7472offers 1.5 MSPS throughput rates with 4 mW powerconsumption.Flexible Power/Throughput Rate Management. The conversionrate is determined by an externally-applied clock allowingthe power to be reduced as the conversion rate is reduced. The part also features an auto sleep mode to maximize powerefficiency at lower throughput rates. No Pipeline Delay. The AD7845 is the industry's first 4-quadrant multiplying D/A converter with an on-chip amplifier. It is fabricated on the LC2MOS process, which allows precision linear components and digital circuitry to be implemented on the same chip. The 12 data inputs drive latches which are controlled by standard CS and WR signals, making microprocessor interfacing simple. For stand-alone operation, the CS and WR inputs can be tied to ground, making all latches transparent. All digital inputs are TTL and 5 V CMOS compatible. The output amplifier can supply ±10 V into a 2k(ohm) load. It is internally compensated, and its input offset voltage is low due to laser trimming at wafer level. For normal operation, RFB is tied to VOUT, but the user may alternatively choose RA, RB or RC to scale the output voltage range.
