Digital Isolators Dual-Channel Isolators with Integrated DC-to-DC Converter (1/1 Channel Directionality)

The ADuM6210 / ADuM6211 / ADuM6212 represent dual-channel digital isolators featuring isoPower, an integrated, isolated dc-to-dc converter. Leveraging Analog Devices, Inc.'s iCoupler technology, the dc-to-dc converter delivers regulated, isolated power with an adjustable range between 3.135 V and 5.25 V. These isolators accommodate input supply voltages ranging from slightly below the required output to significantly higher values, as detailed in Table 2 for popular voltage combinations and their corresponding power levels.

In low-power, isolated designs, the ADuM6210 / ADuM6211 / ADuM6212 negate the necessity for a separate, isolated dc-to-dc converter. The iCoupler chip-scale transformer technology is utilized for both isolated logic signals and the magnetic components of the dc-to-dc converter. The outcome is a compact, all-encompassing isolation solution.

isoPower employs high-frequency switching elements to transfer power through its transformer. Careful attention must be given to printed circuit board (PCB) layout to meet emissions standards. Refer to the AN-0971 Application Note for recommended board layout practices.

The ADG442 is an integrated CMOS component consisting of four individual switches that can be independently selected. It is crafted using an improved LC2MOS process, offering low power dissipation while maintaining high switching speed and low on-resistance.

To activate the ADG442 switches, a logic high signal on the corresponding control input is required. When in the ON state, each switch conducts equally well in both directions, and their input signal range extends to the power supplies. All switches feature break-before-make switching action, making them suitable for multiplexer applications. The design inherently incorporates low charge injection, minimizing transients when switching digital inputs.

The AD5306 / AD5316 / AD5326 are quadruple 8-, 10-, and 12-bit buffered voltage output DACs, enclosed in a 16-lead TSSOP package. These DACs function within a single 2.5 V to 5.5 V supply range and consume 500 µA at 3 V. Equipped with on-chip output amplifiers, they facilitate rail-to-rail output swing with a slew rate of 0.7 V/µs. The devices utilize a 2-wire serial interface capable of operating at clock rates up to 400 kHz. This interface is SMBus-compatible at VDD <3.6 V, allowing multiple devices to be accommodated on the same bus.
