The AD8400 / AD8402 / AD8403 provide a single, dual or quad channel, 256 position digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. The AD8400 contains a single variable resistor in the compact SO-8 package. The AD8402 contains two independent variable resistors in saving SO-14 surface mount package. The AD8403 contains four independent variable resistors in 24-lead PDIP, SOIC and TSSOP packages. Each part contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digital code loaded into the controlling serial input register. The resistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the VR latch. Each variable resistor offers a completely programmable value of resistance, between the A terminal and the wiper or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A to B terminal resistance of 1 kOhm, 10 kOhm, 50 kOhm or 100 kOhm has a ±1% channel-to-channel matching tolerance with a nominal temperature coefficient of 500 ppm/°C. A unique switching circuit minimizes the high glitch inherent in traditional switched resistor designs avoiding any make-before-break or break-before-make operation.Each VR has its own VR latch that holds its programmed resistance value. These VR latches are updated from an SPI compatible serial-to-parallel shift register that is loaded from a standard 3-wire serial-input digital interface. Ten data bits make up the data word clocked into the serial input register. The data word is decoded where the first two bits determine the address of the VR latch to be loaded, the last eight bits are data. Demonstration circuit 2718A is a no-opto flyback converter featuring the LT8316. The demo board outputs 12V and maintains tight regulation with a load current from 30mA to 3A. It is optimized to operate over a wide 100V to 600V DC input voltage range. Output voltage accuracy stays within ±5% over the entire input voltage and load range. The LT8316 is a high voltage flyback controller. No optoisolator is needed for regulation. The part samples the output voltage from the isolated flyback waveform appearing across a third winding on the transformer. Quasi-resonant boundary mode operation improves load regulation. The LT8316 is available in a thermally enhanced 20-pin TSSOP package with four pins removed for high-voltage spacing. Demonstration circuit DC2527A-A features the LTM4662EY, a dual 15A or single 30A high efficiency, switch mode step-down power µModule regulator. The input voltage range is from 4.5V to 20V. With CPWR bias, input voltage can be as low as 2.375V. The output voltage range is 0.6V to 5.5V. Derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, frequency and thermal conditions. The DC2527A-A offers the TRACK/SS pin allowing the user to program output tracking or soft-start period. The board operates in continuous conduction mode in heavy load conditions. For high efficiency at low load currents, the MODE_PLLIN jumper can select discontinuous conduction mode. MODE_PLLIN pin also allows the LTM4662 to synchronize to an external clock signal (between 250kHz and 1MHz). DC2527A-A has the option of choosing both internal and external compensation circuit for LTM4662. Tying the PHASMD pin to different pins generates certain phases of CLKOUT and Channel 2. The LTM4662 data sheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual prior to working on or modifying demo circuit DC2527A-A.
