The HMC311SC70(E) is a GaAs InGaP Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) Gain Block MMIC SMT DC to 8 GHz amplifier. Packaged in an industry standard SC70, the amplifier can be used as either a cascadable 50 Ohm gain stage or to drive the LO port of HMC mixers with up to +15 dBm output power. The HMC311SC70(E) offers 15 dB of gain and an output IP3 of +30 dBm while requiring only 54 mA from a +5V supply. The HMC342 chip is a GaAs MMIC Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) which covers the frequency range of 13 to 25 GHz. The chip can easily be integrated into Multi-Chip Modules (MCMs) due to its small (2.14 mm²) size. The chip utilizes a GaAs PHEMT process offering 20 dB gain from a single bias supply of +3V @ 41 mA with a noise figure of 3.5 dB. The HMC572 is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q downconverter chip which provides a small signal conversion gain of 8 dB with a noise figure of 3.5 dB and 20 dB of image rejection across the frequency band. The device utilizes an LNA followed by an image reject mixer which is driven by an active x2 multiplier. The image reject mixer eliminates the need for a filter following the LNA, and removes thermal noise at the image frequency.I and Q mixer outputs are provided and an external 90° hybrid is needed to select the required sideband. All data shown below is taken with the chip mounted in a 50 Ohm test fixture and includes the effects of 1 mil diameter x 20 mil length bond wires on each port. As the input power is increased, successive amplifiers move into saturation one by one creating an accurate approximation of the logarithm function.The output of a series of square law detectors is summed, converted into voltage domain and buffered to drive the LOGOUT output.
