The AD9837 is a low power, programmable waveform generatorcapable of producing sine, triangular, and square wave outputs.Waveform generation is required in various types of sensing,actuation, and time domain reflectometry (TDR) applications. The outputfrequency and phase are software programmable, allowing easytuning. The frequency registers are 28 bits: with a 16 MHz clock rate, resolution of 0.06 Hz can be achieved; with a 5 MHz clock rate, the AD9837can be tuned to 0.02 Hz resolution.The AD9837 is written to via a 3-wire serial interface. This serialinterface operates at clock rates up to 40 MHz and is compatiblewith DSP and microcontroller standards. The device operateswith a power supply from 2.3 V to 5.5 V.The AD9837 has a power-down (SLEEP) function. Sections of the device that are not being used can be powered down to minimize the current consumption of the part. The AD9914 is a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) featuring a 12‑bit DAC. The AD9914 uses advanced DDS technology, coupled with an internal high speed, high performance DAC to form a digitally programmable, complete high frequency synthesizer capable of generating a frequency-agile analog output sinusoidal waveform at up to 1.4 GHz. The AD9914 enables fast frequency hopping and fine tuning resolution (64‑bit capable using programmable modulus mode). The AD9914 also offers fast phase and amplitude hopping capability. The frequency tuning and control words are loaded into the AD9914 via a serial or parallel input/output port.The AD9914 also supports a user defined linear sweep mode of operation for generating linear swept waveforms of frequency, phase, or amplitude. The ADAU1966A is a high performance, single-chip digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that provides 16 DACs with differential or single-ended outputs using the Analog Devices, Inc., patented multibit sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) architecture. A serial peripheral interface (SPI)/I2C port is included, allowing a microcontroller to adjust volume and many other parameters. The ADAU1966A operates from 2.5 V digital and 3.3 V analog supplies. A linear regulator is included to generate the digital supply voltage from the analog supply voltage. The ADAU1966A is available in an 80-lead LQFP.The ADAU1966A is designed for low EMI. This consideration is apparent in both the system and circuit design architectures. By using the on-board PLL to derive the internal master clock from an external left-right frame clock (LRCLK), the ADAU1966A can eliminate the need for a separate high frequency master clock and can be used with or without a bit clock. The DACs are designed using the latest Analog Devices continuous time architectures to further minimize EMI.
