SSM2167Z-EVAL
Analog Devices Inc.
The SSM2167 is a complete and flexible solution for conditioning microphone inputs in personal electronics and computer audio systems. It is also excellent for improving vocal clarity in com-munications and public address systems. A low noise voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) provides a gain that is dynamically adjusted by a control loop to maintain a set compression characteristic. The compression ratio is set by a single resistor and can be varied from 1:1 to over 10:1 relative to the fixed rotation point. Signals above the rotation point are limited to prevent overload and to eliminate popping. A downward expander (noise gate) prevents amplification of background noise or hum. This results in optimized signal levels prior to digitization, thereby eliminating the need for additional gain or attenuation in the digital domain. The flexibility of setting the compression ratio and the time constant of the level detector, coupled with two values of rotation point, make the SSM2167 easy to integrate in a wide variety of microphone conditioning applications. The device is available in a 10-lead MSOP package, and is guaranteed for operation over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.ApplicationsDesktop, portable, or palmtop computersTelephone conferencingCommunication headsetsTwo-way communicationsSurveillance systemsKaraoke and DJ mixers

TMP17GSZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The TMP17 is a monolithic integrated circuit temperature transducer that provides an output current proportional to absolute temperature. For a wide range of supply voltages the transducer acts as a high impedance temperature dependent current source of 1 µA/K. Improved design and laser wafer trimming of the IC's thin-film resistors allows the TMP17 to achieve absolute accuracy levels and nonlinearity errors previously unattainable at a comparable price. The TMP17 can be employed in applications between -40°C to +105°C where conventional temperature sensors (i.e., thermistor, RTD, thermocouple, diode) are currently being used. Expensive linearization circuitry, precision voltage references, bridge components, resistance measuring circuitry and cold junction compensation are not required with the TMP17.The TMP17 is available in a low cost SO-8 surface-mount package.

The AD580 is a three-terminal, low cost, temperature compensated, bandgap voltage reference which provides a fixed 2.5 V output for inputs between 4.5 V and 30 V. A unique combination of advanced circuit design and laser-wafer trimmed thin-film resistors provide the AD580 with an initial tolerance of ±0.4%, a temperature stability of better than 10 ppm/°C and long-term stability of better than 250µV. In addition, the low quiescent current drain of 1.5 mA max offers a clear advantage over classical Zener techniques. The AD580 is recommended as a stable reference for all 8-, 10- and 12-bit D-to-A converters that require an external reference. In addition, the wide input range of the AD580 allows operation with 5 volt logic supplies making the AD580 ideal for digital panel meter applications or whenever only a single logic power supply is available. The AD580J, K, L and M are specified for operation over the 0°C to +70°C temperature range; the AD580S, T and U are specified for operation over the extended temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

AD5162BRMZ10
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5162 provides a compact 3 mm × 4.9 mm packaged solution for dual 256 position adjustment applications. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a 3-terminal mechanical potentiometer.Available in four different end-to-end resistance values (2.5 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, 100 kΩ), this low temperature coefficient device is ideal for high accuracy and stability-variable resistance adjustments. The wiper settings are controllable through the SPI compatible digital interface. The resistance between the wiper and either end point of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the RDAC latch.Operating from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply and consuming less than 6 µA allows the AD5162 to be used in portable battery-operated applications. For applications that program the AD5162 at the factory, Analog Devices offers device programming software running on Windows® NT/2000/XP operating systems. This software effectively replaces the need for external SPI controllers, which in turn enhances the time to market of systems. An AD5162 evaluation kit and software are available. The kit includes a cable and instruction manual.APPLICATIONS Systems calibrations Electronics level settings Mechanical trimmers replacement in new designs Permanent factory PCB setting Transducer adjustment of pressure, temperature, position, chemical, and optical sensors RF amplifier biasing Automotive electronics adjustment Gain control and offset adjustment

The AD5204/AD5206 provide 4-/6-channel, 256-position digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) devices. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. Each channel of the AD5204/AD5206 contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digital code loaded into the SPI-compatible serial-input register. The resistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the VR latch. The variable resistor offers a completely programmable value of resistance between the A terminal and the wiper or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, or 100 kΩ has a nominal temperature coefficient of 700 ppm/°C.Each VR has its own VR latch that holds its programmed resistance value. These VR latches are updated from an internal serial-to-parallel shift register that is loaded from a standard 3-wire serial-input digital interface. Eleven data bits make up the data-word clocked into the serial input register. The first three bits are decoded to determine which VR latch is loaded with the last eight bits of the data-word when the CS strobe is returned to logic high. A serial data output pin at the opposite end of the serial register (AD5204 only) allows simple daisy chaining in multiple VR applications without requiring additional external decoding logic. An optional reset (PR) pin forces all the AD5204 wipers to the midscale position by loading 0x80 into the VR latch. The AD5204/AD5206 are available in the 24-lead surface-mount SOIC and TSSOP packages. The AD5204 is also available in a 32-lead, 5 mm × 5 mm LFCSP package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C. For additional single-, dual-, and quad-channel devices, see the AD8400/AD8402/AD8403 data sheets.APPLICATIONS Mechanical potentiometer replacement Instrumentation: gain, offset adjustment Programmable voltage-to-current conversion Programmable filters, delays, time constants Line impedance matching
