Learning Outcomes

The purpose of the Arduino Explore IoT Kit Rev2 is to provide students with a complete understanding of the Internet of Things, while also encouraging them to think about solving global sustainability challenges related to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. To ensure that the kit meets the necessary academic and industrial standards, Arduino have identified key concepts that students should learn, such as the tools used for communication, data management, analysis, and computational thinking. The kit uses real-world sensors to collect meaningful data from the environment, which can be modified by remotely controlling actuators such as LEDs, buzzers, and displays through the Cloud. This approach allows students to gain hands-on experience in using IoT technology to address sustainability challenges.

Tech Specs

Arduino Industrial 101 is an Evaluation board for Arduino 101 LGA module. The ATmega32u4 microcontroller is integrated in the baseboard. The module supports a Linux distribution based on OpenWRT named LininoOS. The board has built-in WiFi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n operations up to 150Mbps 1x1 2.4 GHz), 3 GPIOs (of which 2 can be used as PWM Outputs), 4 Analog Inputs, 1 USB, 1 Ethernet signal on pin headers and a built-in DC/DC converter. The MKR ZERO brings you the power of a Zero in the smaller format established by the MKR form factor. The MKR ZERO board acts as a great educational tool for learning about 32-bit application development. It has an on-board SD connector with dedicated SPI interfaces (SPI1) that allows you to play with MUSIC files with no extra hardware! The board is powered by Atmel’s SAMD21 MCU, which features a 32-bit ARM Cortex M0+ core.

The board contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a micro-USB cable or power it by a LiPo battery. The battery voltage can also be monitored since a connection between the battery and the analog converter of the board exists.

Warning: Unlike most Arduino & Genuino boards, the MKRZero runs at 3.3V. The maximum voltage that the I/O pins can tolerate is 3.3V. Applying voltages higher than 3.3V to any I/O pin could damage the board.
